I honestly dont know if this is off topic or hardware related. But more people will see it here anyway so..

I just wondered what you guys have got in 3dMark2003?
And what systems you guys have.
Its just that a while back alot of people (me included) got new systems or upgraded in preperation for HL2!

Anyway..

Heres my score: 4078

My system:

3.2ghz P4 HT Tech
1024mb DDR Ram
128MB Radeon 9800 Pro
120Gb 7200RPM Hard drive
5.1 Surround sound. - MINT BTW
17" Flat screen monitor
DVD Re Writer - (showing off now)

Oh and I bought a new joystick and steering wheel just for fun!!!

And I am not a rich bastard! We just moved house and made a tidy profit. So my mum decided to splash out on this for me, seen as she knows our old computer isnt up to it anymore. :)

What have you guys got then!?

That is an extremely low score for such a powerful system, I have pretty much the same rig, but with a 3.0Ghz processor and I can tip into the 6000 mark without overclocking my 9800...

Have you turned AA and AF off?

Yeah, this will prob be moved to the Hardware forums.
I can't remember what i got for 3d Mark 2003, but for some reason i can't get 3d Mark 2001 to work, as it says something about can't find Direct X8, but i have the latest direct X 9.0b or whatever it is.

hmmmmmm, I was wondering...

The only things I was running in the background were microsoft Excel (bloody work) and a few things in the task bar. Such as MSN messenger quick time quick launch, steam (Might be it!?), my printer thingie, nortens firewall, nortens antivirus, my broadband settings and ATIs control pannel thing.

Ok thats quite alot then. But still....

Oh btw, That system of mine, It only mosst £1800, which isnt that bad when you think I didnt have to build it this time! :D

what?. you got somethingwrong in there m8. Your score should be max of 6500.

No, I never turned them off. But I dont think they were ever on...
It didnt look like it! :P

How do you turn them on anyway!?
might be interesting...

BTW, WAHOOOOO. Me = Combine :D

Sorry, just had to do that!

What version of Catalyst/Control Panel are you running?

I havent stutered in a game once. And thats includeing the planetside trial with full graphics with a 300 player battle!

God damn that was fun!

Hmmm. What could be holding my system bk?

Abom. Honestly I dont have a clue. I havent gotten to know all this ATI stuff yet. How do I find out?

Well, to slightly improve ur score, jkust close down as many things as u can, most of the unnecessary stuff in ur taskbar, antivirus and firewall stuff. Just helps to reduce overall precess usage.

my mums laptop can get 4000 marks,

1.8gb
geforce4 go
512mbddr
40gb harddisk

Try this- Right click on desktop and click properties, go to settings, then click the 'advanced' tab. You should hopefully be presented with some ATi tabs at the top, one of them should be 'Options'. Here it should say which version of Catalyst you are using- the most recent are the 3.7 and 3.8.

Now, to change your AA and AF, try this- (I'm using Catalyst 3.8, so I don't know if the layout is the same). Click on the '3D' tab, which should present you with some graphical options for your card. If there's a 'custom' button around, try going into that, but if not, you should hopefully be looking at some options to change AA and AF settings. Catalyst drivers usually present sliders that allow you to select 2, 4 or 6 AA, or 2, 4, 8 or 16 AF, but neither have the option for 0. If there's a little tickbox that says 'Application preference' besides the AA and AF sliders, tick it. This is the manual way to turn them off.

Click apply, the screen should briefly flash, then you're done! Try 3dMark again, and see if you get better scores.

Well Its the 3.7 drivers and it was set to everythin on max AA and everything. So I will try again one I have finished this work with it all set to performance :D

Thanks!

And yes, planetside is mint. But I can't afford it now I have got this comp :P

Anyone else got any scores to share? :)

Overclocking can slow down your computer.

errrrrrr

The info about my computer in 3d mark says I have TWO 3.2ghz P4s!!!

Erm, I dont think thats the case :P

That's the hyperthreading, don't worry about it.

oh cool, I didnt know it would actually register it as 2 proccesors!

:D I like this comp. Even if for some obscure reason it gives me a weird score in 3dmark!

Btw. Surround sound is definatly worth the money. People can no longer creap up on me in games. I hear them a mile away!
And I can tell where I am being shot from as well. Its very usefull indeedie!

true, but thats if u do it wrong... and if u klick on the link, it's says in the title "New Rig not O/Ced"

Well!

With the new drivers and on performance settings it now gets

5164 marks

Which is nice. But still. I reckon it could do beter...

Thanks for the help guys. My PC is now more powerfull than ever before!!! MUWahahahhahahhahahahha :D

Ive got this:
AMD xp 1700+ @ 2112mhz (12.5 x 169) 1.7 vcore
kingston pc 2700 512mb ddr
Radeon 9700 pro
120Gb 7200RPM Hard drive

And i get 4783 3dmarks

Nice!!!

I still reckon there is something up with this PC!

hmmm, The very first sound test I dont get any sound at all. But the others I do. Do you reckon its brought my score down or something. The only time it really can't cope in this is the second CPU test with those nasty clud weilding ogre things. It got 3fps at one point there. But an average of about 15/20 probably.
Big difference from the very first test where I get 200 fps allmost constant!!!!! :D

I don't get sound on the first test, either, yet it shows up on my final scores... so it seems nothing's wrong.

hmmmmmzzzz

I'll figure it out eventually....
I hope!

Oh and I think I am gona turn on those AA settings to full and play some games and see what difference it makes :)

try to overclock your card. to 400 for the mem

and 700 for the gpu:cool:

Heh, I dont think i'll bother with that just yet!
:D

I think I have plenty of power for the time being! :)

yeah true say.

but you will defenetly need it when doom3.....

probably........

Big emphasis on "can". I've got a:

2.4c oc'd to 3.4
9800Pro oc'd to 460/380
1GB of PC4000 running 1:1

My 3DMark03 scores are around 6800. Overclocking your video card adds alot to your score.

rofl. Nice overclocking!
I didnt know it went that far!!

Just out of interest. What do you think a 3.2ghz could overclock to!?

And how do I do it! :P
