3rd Party Games Won't Start

I'm having a weird error and I need help. When I try to play any one of my thrid party source mods, I get an error that says "modname\gameinfo.txt is missing." However, when I go to the mod folder, I am shocked to find the gameinfo.txt file is still there. And yet my games refuse to recognize that and work properly.

What's going on here? Can anyone help?
