Is there a way to change the texture without chaning the weight? Like a physbox will wiegh different if it's paper or concret texture. I know about the wieght option, just can't get the hang of it.

Is there a way to color things with basic colors? Just your average red, blue, green and so.

Is there a way to change friction of a surface or an object? So you can make things slide or just stick.

Is there a tutorial on how to make water, that I will understand? I have not dillusions about learning how to make water.

1.I thought the 'weight' settings were part of the entity data not the texture, so it shouldn't change

2. search in the texture browser. I know there's a plain black texture, they don't look very good in game though, especially on big areas

3. I don't know.

4. Create a block that will represent the water area you want and cover it with the tools\nodraw texture, now select a water texture (you can use 'water' as a filter in the texture browser) and using the texture application tool apply that texture to the top surface. It's very simple, you should be glad you're not making water for HL1! :S

I can understand the wish for plain coloured textures to get a better overview of the map in early stages. But rather use the orange "No Texture" texture instead of the plain black one since the orange don't render. Don't remember the exact name of it tho, filter "notexture"?

ack...

there is halflife/black as a texture. used in the single player sniper level.
I don't think there are basic colors. might have to add your own.

If you want basic colors, you can just create a func_brush with Render Mode set to Color, set your FX Amount to 255 (full color), and then set your FX Color to what you want it to be.
