The random female portrait has the best soft shading out of the lot of them. Along with a good composition, she takes the prize. You said you struggle with hair, but the shape and direction of what you have so far isn't bad. You mean you're just not comfortable with shading the hair in volume?

Well as you can see, I'm not really comfortable shading anything in volume . My problem with the hair is I just can't tell what goes where and how, which is why I left a large part of it blank.
