5.1 enabled, no iTunes in games. 2.1 enabled, iTunes works w/ games

As the title says, if I enable 5.1 surround in my Creative Audigy 2 audio driver panel, iTunes doesn't work when I'm playing a game. The music "plays" (in other words, the progression bar...progresses), but no sound comes out. Game audio works fine.
If I enable 2.1, iTunes works and the game works, but I lose true surround.

Creative Audigy 2 soundcard, WinXP, driver dated 6/23/2004, but I honestly don't want to mess with it. I've had alot of problems getting this sound card working.

I have the latest iTunes...never had this problem before I got the latest iTunes, so I'm assuming that's the issue.

Suggestions on how to fix it?

Go to the sound options in your OS and mess around with the default devices. Maybe iTunes is set to a different device for the audio?
