[5.1 surround problem]there is no bass

I had to run snd_digital_surround 1 to get the speakers working and they work great. I can hear somebody comming from behind and all. But I hear nothing from the woofer speaker so I have no bass in game.

How do I fix this?

I have a ALC888 on MSI K9a2 CF with RealTek drivers.

Speaker are Genius SWF 5.1. And 5.1 sound works without problems on everything else.

ps. If I switch to 4speakers in HL2 then the BASS will work.

Why does the woofer=bass work when I set HL2 to 4speakers but not when I set it to 5.1 surround sound?

found the solution I had to use the cable to swap woofer and center.
Is there a way I could switch this in HL2 since in Windows it runs fine the way that it was set.

found the real problem.

I do not need the cable to switch center/woffer channels. When I lunch the game I must set in realtek controls to switch woffer/center channels for HL2 to work but in windows and all other games I must set it to off again to get proper channel redirection.

Is there a way I could do this in HL2 since I do not want to always switch them settings to play HL2
