Ok, I've been looking into getting a pair os Suround Sound Headphones (click here for the pair I'm getting). Thusly I need to get a 5.1 compatable sound card as well. Now... the only thing is, that I'm confused with the connectors. The headphones have 3 connectors on it: 1 for rear, 1 for front, and one for center. Ok, thats cool, but everyone soundcard I've been looking at dosent have seperate ports for each channel, they just have the one.

So... if I get a 5.1 pair of headphones, then where am I supposed to plug them into?

Any help is much appreciated.

Just get a Sound Blaster Audigy LS(Dont have to be Audigy 2). Supports 5.1, I got it for like 40 bucks + Hitman 2(Came with it). A big sheet of paper comes with it to tell you how to plug things in to.

I'll try and find a link on newegg.com for one..

I'd think it would support it..not sure..

If your headphones have inputs like that a SoundBlaster audigy and I think the LS will both work. I have it hooked up that way to my home entertainment system.

ok, I diggin up an old thread since I just brought Ozaki 5.1 surround headphones. To answer the first question - there are only 3 plugs (front, center and rear) - but remember each plug is in stereo - so your heaphones will be able to distinguish which is L&R even though you only have one plug for front - say. Compare this to normal headphone which only has one plug but you still get the sound in stereo!

My point of this post is that I cant get my surround heaphones to work properly on hl2 and CS:S; I read in some forums that it might be a bug and that I have to install older realtek drivers - which I did - and they seem to make it slightly better but still not fully functional.

This is v strange, I actually need to play a game beforehand (like GTA Vice City) which runs in 5.1. Then I close this game and open CS:S and only then will CS:S run in 5.1 - like it needs a primer game to kickstart 5.1. Then sometime after successive rounds on CS:S the channels automatically swop over - rear left becomes rear right etc.

Anyone experiencing similar problems?

Here are my specs, the sound card is build into the motherboard:

Gigabyte i915G, Intel 530 (3ghz), 512 DDR400; Winfast 6600GT 128 MB.
