Alright. I'm don't know a whole lot when it comes to RAM. My dad has a 512 stick of 2700DDR RAM. He repairs computers for a living, and one of the corpses that we have has a 512 stick of 2100 DDR. Now, it is my understanding that if you put a 512 2700 and a 512 2100 together, they both run at 2100 speeds. (I'm not sure what that is in MHz.) Would it be more benficial to have 512MB of 2700 DDR, or a gig of 2100 DDR?

hmm not totally sure, it would probably be faster with teh 512 stick running at 2700.

itd be much better to have a gig of the 2100. the difference between 2100 and 2700 is negligible.

but the proof would be running a game like battlefield 1942, and comparing the load times and the amount of stuttering when you enter a new map.

It depends on what you are doing but in most cases the 1GB would be far better.

I believe it's a 267MHz bus.

Which in turn means PC2100 (266MHz) will run in sync with the FSB. Most efficent way to have it anyway.

The PC2100 1024MB will feel more like PC2700 768MB RAM, as it will run at PC2100 speeds. Eitherway, it's better to have that 512MB of RAM you currently have, so add that extra stick in ;) .
