Ever wonder what happens if somebody you know over the internet gets hit by a car, or crushed by a piano? You'd probably never find out about it. They would just stop talking to you.

Well statistically speaking, this has already happened to about 56 members of this forum since the website was created. I got this number by taking the base American death rate for 20 year olds (0.155%) and multiplying it by the number of members (12000). And then multiplying that by the average number of years that someone has been a member (I guessed about 3). This will also include people who stopped posting for other reasons and then later died. The statistic is very crude, but it gives you an idea.

Okay, maybe the actual number is a bit less because the nerd demographic isn't exactly high risk for death, but the fact remains that a significant number of members have died without anyone here knowing about it.

If I die, I promise I will let you guys know.

I was not invited to his funeral. What a shame.

Well isn't that something.

We need a HL2.net clock, with statistics like these.
Other counts will include stupid threads made, homosexual statements posted, stern debates held, etc.

Someone go code it.

Good thing those 56 members were people who stopped posting years and years ago and never made names for themselves...

I don't feel as bad then, because I don't have names to go with the faces!

If i die none shall mourn my passing
Loved by none
Feared by some
Hated by many
That had been my way
If i shall die then i shall be forgotten
Within this hourglass the sand of time go by
Each grain is a life
Mine has fallen
As have i
If i die
History shall erase me
If i die I shall be replaced
If i die.....Then let it be with a smile on my face

Ooooo thats been my best
Im siggin it

Too late. I alraedy screenshotted your sig. :|

The mods are backstabbers. Your deal will go badly. Try to act alarmed as you are surrounded with AK wielding terrorists during the negotiations.

2.5 HL2.net members have achieved immortality without you knowing it.

I'm half immortal.

Who are two half immortals and the one immortal again? I forget... thus is the problem with immortality, even partial.

I died 8 times, so make that 48 people. Just one more life and I'm doomed.

If someone we all know well here stops posting without warning for about four months or so, just think about the loosened bowels/diarrhea from the (possibly) deceased member's corpse.
You'll all be too disgusted to feel pity then. :E

Cartman: Ha, ha! I told you people crap when they die! You owe me five bucks jew!
Kyle: Shut up fat ass.

I agree with Dan though. the majority of us are probably major nerds (Myself included. Com'on it's a gaming forum.), and we all know nerds are just too nerdy to die anyways.

All the "ghost members" here that have stopped posting just probably have lives now. In theory, one could say they've actually been, "born again" and only started to live once they quit posting here. :|

Base American death rate?

Bit of a problem there.
Only Americans die, the rest of us are immortal.

I'll set a jacque block to drop if there's no activity from my line for over two years.

Only 56? I thought it was over NINETHOUSAAANND!!!

Rakurai was shot in a driveby being the drivebyer

TBH I expect the more dedicated members to have hl2.net on their will :p

And they'd write down their login details as I dying wish, so we can be rickrolled by a dead person!

Considering there's only a very small percentage of people who have a significant number of posts, or who have even been replied to, that number is probably a lot smaller. Something less than 10, anyway.

Besides, anyone who's stupid enough to mention Candlejack deserves t-

How would you know that? I don't trust these fancy 'statistics' of yours. Maybe you murdered them.

The Dark Elf could be dead for all we know. So could Shuzer and *gasp* knghenry, to include a few.

I made a deal with the devil when I died. I am simultaneously one of the 56 dead members, and one of the 2.5 immortal members. I am the immortal undead.

I think the Dark Elf drank himself dead quite a long while back.
