After waiting almost 6 years for Half Life 2, I still think I will be playing Half Life 1 another 6 years from now...

Sure the body language and the facial expressions of the characters in HL2 are amazing.... and what else?

HL2's graphics are obviously better than HL1's, but again, aren't the graphics of most games nowdays better than the graphics of Half Life 1...

Also, there is no story in HL2. No sense of accomplishment at the end.

okay. however, the rest of us know progress when we see it.

most of us stopped playing hl1 a while ago, theres a good majority that havent even played it once, the thing that has kept hl1 going has been the community and the mods. with half life 2, the community will only get bigger and more talented, and the mods can only improve. so as i see it, its just going to get better with half life 2.

Good for you.

I've played HL1 numerous times, as well as all of it's expansions... and as great as they are, they can't touch the experience of playing hl2.

Ill admit that HL1's story was MUCH better but many people have said that if you talk to EVERYONE in the game you will find a hidden story much depper than what ur 'spoon fed'

That's completely true.

HL2's story is way better and deeper than HL's story. And HL2 does answer questions, HL without the expansions/PS2 version doesn't.

HL1 was great, but honestly, what sort of story did it have? Alright, you're a scientist in a secret government lab, you push a shopping cart with some odd crystal into an Anti-Mass Spectrometer... and suddenly you rip a hole in space-time, and all sorts of aliens pour out. So you fight towards the surface, start skirmishing with some government task force trying to clean up the whole mess, and eventually meet some scientists who send you into another world called Xen (the border world). You fight through and kill some big floating head alien in an attempt to stop the invasion... then you're seized by a mysterious man in a suit who offers you a job.

That's not exactly a coherent story. Exactly what kind of research were you doing? Teleportation, is about the only answer you can come up with. Who is the GMan? Who is Nihlianth? What is Xen? Why have there been previous expaditions there?

HL1 was great, but HL2 simply has much, much more story than its prequel. The difference though is that the first gives some sense of closure, and the second leaves the door wide open for the next incarnation.

I'm sick of people acting like the ending ruined the whole experience they already had with the rest of the game, as far as im concerned everything before the end had to be the funnest experience i've ever had playing a game.

I really liked HL1 the whole fact that aliens were chasing you down and you were blocked off from humanity kinda spooked me out. The only place in HL2 that did that was Ravenholm (which i relay liked).

I suppose that i realy like the fact that you never know if you will mkae it out alive - thats what kept me going in HL1. In HL2 it was finding answers that kept me going.

And half life 1 had more weapons and ennemies... and no ennemy waves...

Half life 2 is good, amazing, but Half life is half life, no game could ever beat it, not even HL².
