"Today, the Alabama Supreme Court rejected an appeal to throw out a $600 million lawsuit blaming Grand Theft Auto for the murders of two police officers and a dispatcher. The trial judge's decision to not dismiss the suit was upheld, but the Alabama Supreme Court also agreed to hear claims challenging whether or not Alabama courts have the power to hear the case. The court made its ruling without comment.
In June 2003, Devin Moore killed three people at a Fayette Police Department. The judge of the case forbade the defense to link the murders to violent video games and later sentenced Moore to death. The families of the people who were killed in the shootings filed suit against Take-Two (makers of Grand Theft Auto), Sony (makers of the system that Moore played Grand Theft Auto on), along with Wal-Mart and Gamestop (who allegedly sold Grand Theft Auto to Moore, who was then a minor)"
