64 bit

Of course. I remember someone moaning about Valve not implementing a 64-bit version of HL2 months back.

Rofl one person asked for it so they made it, thousands of people moan for a small update and it takes weeks :p

I'll just send them an e-mail that says that no one is interested in those small updates and they'll start spewing 'em out like there's no tomorrow :p

That's probably just the first texture layer, HDR uses four texture layers. (It was designed for HDR, you know... :p)

Yeah, also few month ago, they added support for machine with more than 4Gbyte RAM cause some guy said hl2 doesn't support such things.

What will 64 bit actually do? Just higher graphics quality, or what?

I am a 64 bit nub.

How can I tell if its been updated?

I'm not entirely sure, I would assume that if you have a 64bit processor and 64x Windows XP, then it should work (as long as it was automatically updated through steam)

I'm running it, it seems smooth. I'd do a comparison benchmark on the Video Stess test if I knew how to run the 32-bit version now
