Seriously considering buying one of these bad boys. Just wanted to know where I should get it from and what brand to get. I've never bought a video card before and all these different manufaturers are confusing me. Are there differences between any of them? Or they all the exact same card?

I'm probably going for the XFX 6800 GT. I've read numerous people succesfully OC'd it to an Ultra. Don't know about where to get it, I'm having a hard time finding one myself heh

I'm from the United States. I've always wondered, I've got Colorado Springs, CO in my "location' thingy...do people from other countries know that Colorado is in the US? Like do you guys know the names of our states?

You could always get the ones maded directly by Nvidia. I don't know the difference between all the different makes but I think they're all just the same card. Some companies however are no good at making them and people have problem with em. Don't ask me which but someone else might know.

Yeah, I edited out my stupid question about where you live :) I guess I know a lot of state-abbreviations you use, CO I knew...

By the way what kind of specs do you have? In my case. it doesn't really matter if I go for the 6800 GT or x800 pro (if the Hardocp reviews are correct) because my CPU is not top of the line anymore (2700xp, mobo a7n8x deluxe, 1 gig pc3200)

I've got a 3.06 Intel Pentium 4 and I just bought 512 megs of RAM for a grand total of 1024.

Brand doesnt really matter. They are all basically the same card but with different packaging. Some can be bundled with games other can come with a different heatsink. I bought off compusa for $301 when PNY made a little mistake w/their discount :D

yeah, currently they're all pretty much jsut the nvidia ref design..

I suggest getting the bfg version from thier website. It comes outa the box already oc'd and can be oc's a lot more =D

Got mine from Compusa (PNY). Was looking at other cards and then looked at the shelf right in front of me and there it was. I bought 2. ;)

I don't know, I'm a little iffy about BFG these days. A couple years ago (2 max) I bought a BFG Asylum 128MB GF4 Ti4200, and the fan completely stipped spinning and died causing it to overheat constantly, which damaged it. I don't know if I just got a funky product, but I'm certainly staying clear from them after that.

Im gonna buy a "old" 9800 pro....

Hey, im from Holland too. Asus, why you buy 2 of them? You only need one? Send me one of your new card plz. And im not making a joke :p

Sold one to a friend. ;)
I'm debating if it's worth it to trade it in for 100$ when the X800XT PE comes in stock again. :E

dammit asus, from a 9800 pro to a 6800 GT to an x800 XT PE >_<

No money tree. ;)
I work at Compusa. All i'd be doing is trading it in, not paying full price and buying a new one.
"My fan broke"

lucky guy :p Damn in Holland these shit are way more expensive. The GF6800 GT is like 500 euro here. Only for rich people really lol. I better buy my stuff from America or something o_O

I just ordered my GT from eVGA.com. They seem to be reliable considering nvidia has a link to them on their website. Its a preorder but the thing ships on august 2nd.

I bought mine at CompUSA where I work.
It's kind of sad because we only got 7 of the new generation cards so far (4x X800XT + 3x 6800 GT) and they were all but one bought by employees before we even put them on shelf ;)
Now I can't wait to buy doom 3 next week at our cost $39 :p

oh - and I only paid $320 for it

Hey umop you said your BFG card died, there is a guy at www.hardocp.com that works for BFG so if you BFG card did die you could always talk to him and Ill bet he'll arrange something for you. I've witnessed some of this myself.

^^ Yeah, BFGs have a lifetime warranty if you don't overclock them past what they already are out of the box. UMOP, you should send it back.

Wow thats just cold but you cant expect a gamer to turn them cards down for a customer. I got my pny 6800 gt at comp usa in novi michigan, called a head of time and then drove 65 miles round trip to get it. When I was there I went and checked if anymore were on the shelf and there was only one left. About a day later all stores were showing them out of stock. I was pretty happy to get mine with doom 3 about to come out but it sure was costly. It will be my last computer upgrade fro a long time. ;)

i paid $301 for mines and i dont even work there :p. Took advantage of that "All PNY cards 30% off deal" Haha. went to my local compusa and ask if i can order a pny 6800gt and still get the discount. The employee said no so i went and talk to the manager. He let me have it since its the company that are losing the money not the store.
