couple days ago, i read somewhere saying that i can use a program called 3danalyser or something that can make hl2 run twice faster on nvidia cards with the same graphical quality.

i just want to whether that's true, i have a 6800 256mb and i got 74 in the stress test (or 64, don't remember that well), if i install 3danalyser, it means i can get 140 in the stress test, is it true ?? can anyone confirm that ??

Yes its sort of true... You can force HL2 to run in FP16 mode instead of FP16 mode. Valve have really only optimised for FP24 mode which ATI cards support natively. Nvidia cards support both FP16 and FP32 and on an Nvidia card HL2 defaults to FP32 mode. Using 3dAnalyze you can force HL2 to run in FP16 mode. Its worth a try on your 6800 but generally this fix does most of its magic on the FX series of nvidia cards. Here's how its done...

Download and open 3dAnalyze then follow the numbers:
1. select HL2.exe file in half-life 2 folder
2. select any file inside the folder half-life 2\bin
3. select Steam.exe
than check these options:
- Under the section Pixel and Vertex Shader: FORCE LOW PRECISION PIXEL SHADER
- Under the section Remove stuttering: PERFORMANCE MODE
- on the bottom left: FORCE HOOK.DLL

It was ment to be used on the FX cards since they don't do DX9 well at all. There would be no reason to do it on your 6800.
