After the 2 minutes silence at noon today, London has been getting on with the normal working day despite the fear terrorism tried to force upon us this day 1 year ago. I've been watching various memorial services today, with the Queen and Tony Blair both out showing their respect to the 52 people who died.

Check the BBC news article for more information on the day - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5153678.stm

Oh and what i found very interesting was reading the thread from one year ago as people posted every minute as the news slowly came through. With all the different speculation and odd stories people were posting, then the facts, which lead to the disgust, anger and thoughtful messages from people worldwide. That was really nice. The strength of everyone in London has remained intact, and they are still not afraid.

Well, I think its good to see that the terrorists didn't achieve what they planned to do: scare the UK'ers into submission and withdrwal.

Your KD ratio that's more important than your base score. Although suicide counts as -1 kill.

Yeah you guys handled yourselves very well, thoughts to those victims/families to this day. Its a sad state of affairs when we, as a species, assume that killing each other could be fruitfull to us in some manner. But solace can be found in the fact that we all eventually reach the same end. And wow, to be typing this while listening to "when the smoke is going down" by the scorpions is kind of surreal, that, and I have a nasty cold. But heres to my friends overseas, may we (together) figure out and remedy whatever the hell is wrong with this world.

I thought you were talking about Marco Polo Bridge Incident.

I was going to post a two minute silence thread, but then I realised that wouldn't quite work.

One year? God, that's surreal.

Not typing for 2 minutes?

I like how brits were b*tching about how Moscow shouldn't take the olympics of 2012 because of terrorism and get their a$*es fked at about the same period by terrorists.

If I remember correctly, there was also an innocent who was killed by the police because he was seen running in the tube?

Oh my, I'm sorry, I took the total wrong end of the stick, quite literally. If I erase what I said, you could erase your reply (to avoid confusion) and we'll get back on topic.

And yes, what you actually meant is quite a good point.

edit: You're a sport.

I was quite nervous about taking the tubes today, but there was high security everywhere. The only worrying part was when the train suddenly screeched to a halt inside a tunnel. Turned out we had caught up with another train who had a disabled person getting on.

I can't believe it was a year ago today. I was on a field trip with the school and I knew my mum was in London that day and I had no way of getting hold of her. It was a worrying day. Luckily she called the school, as did several other parents and the information was then relayed to the teacher with us.

Its posts like this that make me glad to be intelligent.

We've been dealing with terrorism for the last 30-odd years - one reporter likened it to us dealing with it as an inconvenience - in my opinion this was far too flippant, but we're toughened and it is true that we don't let people get one up over us that easy.
London is an amazing city and I feel extremely proud to be a part of it. I'm a Londoner far before I am a Brit and I always will be.
I felt numbed by what happened, but - and it sounds cliched - I was so heartened by the grit that London showed. Ken Livingstone was absolutely right when he said (and I forget his exact words) about the whole world being in London. Its diversity is incredible and for the most part, it's a melting point and an extremely exciting place to be a part of.

Being intelligent stops you getting banned for a week too.

Talking of the olympics, i remember i was running down a corridor with a mate talking about how good it will be, when we won the 2012 bid, then a teacher told me about the bombs, i will always remember that moment. Just like i remember the moment of seeing 9/11. Everyone lives with those for their entire life.

It always makes me cringe when I think back to what I said today one year ago D:

I remember I was on a school trip, and one of the guides taking us round said there had been an explosion on the tube in London, and I reply "Someone must have been smoking a to bigger cigar." Not only is it not funny, its horribly untasteful D: *slaps self*

It was quite surreal though, I couldn't believe it had happened, its the same feeling I remember having when I came home on 9/11... Its just unbelievable that these things happen.

'Al-Qaeda' only chooses to release its video productions at the most politically expedient times to maximize the benefits enjoyed from them by the Bush and Blair administrations.

The schedule is so scripted, timed and orderly that Brian Ross at ABC News now reports days in advance when a new tape is about to be released.

Therefore it was no surprise to learn of the Shehzad Tanweer video, released to coincide with the anniversary of the 7/7 bombings in London.
d
Here are some other questions not answered by one grainy video.

- Why was the supposed ringleader of the attack Haroon Rashid Aswat working for MI6?

- Why were exercises targeting the exact same locations at the exact same time taking place on the morning of 7/7?

- Why was an innocent Brazilian electrician whose behavior offered no signs that he could be a suicide bomber shot multiple times in the head by undercover police on July 22nd?

- Why did eyewitnesses on two separate trains describe the bombs as exploding up from under the carriage and saying no Muslims with backpacks were in the immediate vicinity?

Well, I'm going to ignore the little debate going on, and just say I'm sorry to all the people who had to go through this national ordeal. It's horrible, and I hope everyone who was involved is doing better one year from this terrible tragedy.

well this news is just GREAT. now let's watch an interview with that dickhead Fred Phelps jump for joy as he wishes the terrorist attack killed even MORE people! someone oughta kill that f****** idiot so we can protest at HIS funeral and wish his death was longer and scarier:frown: :frown: :frown:! sorry, i just hate the guy. if only we could think of a method of preventing terrorist attacks without getting so paranoid everytime we see an iraqi or whatever. in a way, we're all terrorists

First, you can't prevent terrorism, I don't see how you could keep from happening such a thing. Then, we are not all terrorists. Those that engage in such acts are extremists with a deep and intense animosity for capitalism and our way of life.

Guys, theres no need for all this agression, it's just a day to remember as Nick stated above. Stop all the debating about terrorism, its an awful act, end of. Please try to show that small ounce of consideration. A minute of silence is to reflect not to reject.
