7900gt vs 7800gtx vs X1800XT

erm - I've only personally used the 7800GTX, and it's pretty darn good. How many people here have used all three of these cards for a reasonable amount of time, aren't swayed by fanboyism, and can give an honest answer? I'd look for a benchmark online myself. Also, and I'm not sure about the ATI versions, are you talking about the 256Mb or 512Mb cards?

I would go with the 7800gtx its aproven card and its cheaper than the other 2 and the difference in the graphics you will prolly not notice

its not cheaper. all 256mb versions. im not bothered about nvidia or ATI i personally like both companies and am a customer to both.

I'm a Nvidia fan so anything I say would be bias, and I don't wanna ruin our Nvidia fan-boys.

But according to the benchmark reports, they (Nvidia & ATI) are the same (class by class benchmarking) except for few frames, nvidia. That is all.

Well, as far as i know, from what i have seen so far... price wise, the X1800XT can be found for the lowest price, then the 7900GT, then the 7800GTX 256mb. The X1800XT and 7900GT are very close on performance, the 7800GTX slightly behind. My choice would be either the X1800XT or the 7900GT.

the ati cards are better at high resolutions with aa and also they can use aa with hdr

I'm buying a new graphics card and the research i did on the 7x00 series says the 7900 GT runs slightly faster, costs less and uses less power to run. So why buy a 7800 GTX when a 7900 GT is cheaper?

i cant find an answer to that either....i just bought a 7900..havent used it yet but ill let you know how it works....

got it for a little over 300.....where as the 7800gtx goes for around 5...kinda weird

I'm a fan of both companies and have used products from both, but if i had to choose it would have to be the X1800XT, due to good reviews, along with better experience with ATI Products over Nvidia :)

7900gt definately, better drivers, and its a newer card and uses less power and im getting 150fps with everything at max on it

Doesn't mean its better tbh, have you actually tried the other two for a reasonable period of time ?

shit :O

how much is it anyway? the card I mean

im going to be cheap and get an X1800Xl it will be more than adequate for my source games and FEAR

ATi use the letter X far too much, avoid them.

The 7900GT therefore wins, no X present.

the "X" factor is so old-hat. Not everything needs to be X-TREEEME! anymore. Unless it's something Vin Diesel does.
