80fps then 2fps in dl_canals_08.sp - CRAZY :)

First post - hello to everyone

Got a pretty good system, 3.4 Gig 6800 Ulta, running at 1280 x 1024. All maxed, runs great UNITL dl_canals_08.bsp, then drops to 2 fps. It sounds like an mp3 is corrupt, getting loads of echo echo echo echo


Tried dropping to 800x600 and all low settings, still the same, echo.

Anyway, I don't have a solution except going through that level at 2fps, takes about 20 mins, trying to shoot whilst the enemy act like 80's robotic dancers and I try to shoot them.


Loads dl_canals_09.bsp then back to silky smooth.

I've tried the fddshow solution but still choppy ON THAT ONE MAP, all else fine

Thought I'd post incase anyone else has the case problem.

If its a corrupt mp3, how could I fix it?? I've got a gold subscription

Try a defrag and a scan disk....

seems to scan fine, what would happen if 1 WAS corrupt? Woudl steam pick it up and reupload the mp3?

What a vivid and appropriate description hahahahah. Ah man, thanks for the laugh, sorry for your pain and hope you get it worked out. Sounds to me like you may be suffering from the same issue as people in the 'Audio Stuttering' thread? Anyway peace.
