there is a sapphires...
9600pro -$148
9800SE -$167
how much better is the 9800SE?
ive heard bad things about SE, but is it still better then a 9600? (20bucks better ^.^???)
on like futuremark, 3dmark03 ,i tryed to check benchies.. they have 9800 listed, but i dont know if its the 9800SE
from what it looks there se is better then 9600, but i want to be sure.
- i can afford a 4pixelpipline card
- but not a 8pixepipline card
- the time is now!, my father needs a new computer, so i give him my video card, so i can get a new one :D

Considering the base name is 9800 I would say it is better than the 9600. How do you think it will match against 9600XT? I found a review on the 9800SE and I would say it is worth it. :D

more money?! = 9600xt
stock it full of fancy heatsink/fan and higher clock speeds, on the same base card...
i rather buy a simpler card, and overclock/buy my own cooling later. i have well above average case cooling, so :D
the fact that the 9800SE does use an external power source, does that give it better overclockability or something?

No it jsut means it needs more juice.

9800SE is a good card, and it's better than the basic 9600pro. (ie not the firebird edition)

I'd say go for the 9800SE - I've heard that by using a BIOS update, you can softmod it to either a 9800 or 9800 Pro, meaning enabling the extra 4 pipelines.

I had also heard a rumor going round that the 9800SE chips were just 'badly made' 9800 Pro chips, so they had 4 of their pipelines disabled.

hummm.....I Think they 9800se were made with only 4 pipes.....I don't think they have 4 more hidden away there...

I could be wrong.

I would like to know too if there are really 4 pipes, or 8... I too am debating on which ATi Radeon card to buy... :)

9800SE is with 4 pipelines
only CERTIN 9800se's can be softmodded, and thats if ur lucky
and also i found out later, that only the 256bit memory 9800se cards are better then the 9600pro, the 128bit memory 9800se cards, are less then the 9600pro
9600pro does run 128bit memory, and is at a higher clock speed then a 9800se

- just came to conclusion, 9600pro is better...

Hmm... well, I'm either going to buy a 9700-Series or a 9800-Series.

But thanks for specifying that the 9800SE has 4 pipelines :)
Good luck with the 9600Pro.
