9800 pro enough....?

I about to buy a graphics card and I was looking at the 9800 pro so how does it run CS:S? Or does anyone know if it will work well for source? If this card can't run CS:S on high what ATI card can and how much is it. Please help me.

Sweet thanks guys... also is 512 ram good to run on full... I ask because it will take me like 2-3 weks to ge the money for it. I am hopeing Half-life 2 will be gold by then and I will have the ram before the game comes out but still is 512 enough?

don't expect to get great framerates at above 1024x768 though. thats when the newer cards come in. and leave off AA, maybe some light AF. unless you want it to be chunky

if you want to run at higher than 1024x768 with AA and AF at 60+fps you'll want a newer video card like a 6800gt or x800pro.

performance is very subjective. if you are happy with 40 and below fps, then you can run higher resolutions with more AA and AF.

but it also depends on game, we haven't got a benchmark that gives us a huge complicated scene with battles going on. so we dont know just how much any computers framerate will dip.

ok is very subjective, but i think it won't be disapointing.

run the VST(hl2 video benchmark) if you buy hl2 next week or have the cS:S beta. itll give you a better idea

Wait one month, just one month, for the 6600 GT AGP to come out. It retails for $200 (cheaper then 9800pro) and BLOWS THE 9800xt OUT OF THE WATER! it kills the 9800xt in performence. so what do you think that menas for a 9800pro? eh? get it?

get your ram and a 6600 GT AGP in a month. brand new card, brand new technology, cheaper, faster, better in benchmarks. how the hell can you go wrong? ya know?
