Hey guys. I got a bit of a problem here. I just got my new computer up and running. I install a game, and when it loads, the game is very dark. 'Ok' I thought. So I loaded up Max Payne 2, same thing. All of my games are dark. In windows, everything is fine. I've tried messing with the 3d gamma slider in the ati pannel but I can't get it right. I don't know why all my games are dark. I put in my old hard drive and the games on it were dark too. I would just use the slider method, but it doesn't work on some games such as Raven Shield or Quake 3. Help is good.

Try reinstalling the drivers.
Which ones do you have?

Yeah, that's the first thing I tried. I have Catalyst 3.10. Let me revert back to 9 and see if that fixes it.

check the actual monitor settings, brightness and contrast

Going back to 3.9 did nothing. As formy monitor brightness and contrast, I just checked and it wasn't that either. Windows is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Games are EXTREMELY DARK.

It's a strange one.

I have 9800 and the Cats so I'll have a look at the settings to see if there's anything less obvious.

You could try the Color tab in Advanced Display Settings menu.

That's the best I can come up with :/

Besides checking the game's brightness, your monitors brightness, going to the Color tab in the ATI control panel and upping the brightness, there's not much I can think of...

EDIT:
Damn, Chris D beat me on the color tab! :monkee:

Something tells me the gamma setting is wrong - I had a similar problem with Q3 a while back.

are you sure its not your monitor?? i had an old monitor that was very bright in windows, but was so dark in games that i couldn't play...i got a new monitor, and it was fine....of course, it wasn't on a 9800 card though...

Hey guys, thank each and everyone of you for your help. It was my monitor. I went to the gamma section, moved it one, and the screen totally lit up then I moved it back and it was fine. I guess my monitor kind of 'reset'. Thank you all.
