Hmm, I've successfully OC'ed the core on my 9800pro to 450(I did not try to get any higher then that).. But I have some problems though, the picture is for shit.. In 3D graphics there are flickering objects every where.. Seems to be very buggy but it's running smoothly without any problems though, except for the flickering objects of course.

I've upped the voltage in bios to 1.70.. but still the problem remains, although the game did hang when I had it at 1.50, runs stable at 1.70 but is there anyway to get rid of the flickering objects?

Those artifacts are usually signs of the card's ram overheating.
If you run it like that a lot it can damage the card.

Hmm, but I did not OC the ram though :/

overclocked core too high = white dots or black (salt & pepper)
overclocked ram too high = tears in the images.. usually black.

Overclocking the 9800 Pro is like sticking on dynamite to add on power to an ICBM.

But glad to hear the results.

well, in bios it's set to auto. which im guessing is unchanged.

Try to get back at the original core speed and heat.. if the dots remains, i would think that you've broked it :p,,, if thats the case, return it to were you bought it and tell them that i was like that when you got it.. and if it were some time since you bought it and they're wondering why it took the time to figure it out.. just tell them that you been on vaccation or anything else... =)

it menas your comps too hot. if you cna get it cooler there you might beable to get it to run better.

Now, really...When you overclock a video card and get artifacts, that means you've gone too far...It's not like there's some magic boundary where it just stops working.

I get the artifacts when clocking core and it is water cooled... Obviously the memory is the problem here.. I might need some heatspreaders for them, anyone know where I can get good ones?

It might be the passive heatsink on my chipset that becomes very hot and it's placed right over the ATi card, vary close... This is the only reason I can think of, my mobo temp is like 32 idle and 34 in full load.

crazy, id expect a lot more from it being water cooled. when i was looking for ram sinks i went to the rage3d forums and searched for them.. you'll find links.
