9800pro or 9800pro?

ooo, just looked back at them and realized that the sapphire has ddr2 ram. does that make it worth the few extra dollars?

but the sapphire is oem, not retail. will it come with the disk to install and the cables?

Go with the Sapphire model(it'll come with all the cables), download the Catalyst 4.8 or wait for the 4.9 this/next week, since the drivers in the CD that will ship with the card will be outdated.

Just to let you know, at the price you're paying for those 256mb 9800 pro's, you should get this instead:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-145-084&depa=0

I chose the Chaintech 6800 because it's core is clocked at 350mhz and memory is clocked at 770mhz compared to the usual 325/700 in the 6800's. Get this card, it's better, in fact it's better than a 9800xt, only $1 more. And it overclocks VERY well, and there is also a new version of Rivatuner coming out that you can choose to unlock all 16 pipelines, and after overclocking it would be almost as good as a 6800GT. Although it's not a sure thing, it may not work, it's just an added bonus.

I just changed some shit around with my pc, so now my pc on newegg is currently $1497.98(with everything i need but the video card). I dont want to exceed $2000 by much, now which video card should i get

Get the 6800GT for $400. I recommend the BFG 6800GT. OIt has 16 pipelines and everything just like the Ultra, only takes up one slot and the power requirements are the same as an X800/9800 and it is only slightly slower than the Ultra. Just overclock a tiny bit and you have yourself a 6800 Ultra pretty much. Best bang for the buck in the new cards.

The 6800 besides having some pixel shaders pipelines disabled, has vertex pipelines disabled, so don't even start with "Dude, get a 6800 and o/c the heck out of it".
Also, the 6800GT power consumption is HIGHER than a X800XT!
If you want the 9800PRO 256MB, go for the Sapphire.

If your gonna get a 9800 pro, get a 128 mb version, preferably the MSI RX9800 Pro, it has the r360(9800 XT) core.

I'm really getting sick of you. I know about the vertex shader thing as well, I think that may also be unlocked but they're not done with the new RivaTuner yet, and as I said it's just an added bonus. K the X800 pro and XT have the same power requirements, so don't say the 6800GT takes up more power than the X800XT to make it sound worse. And the X800's minimum psu spec is 300 watt. The 6800 and 6800GT is also 300 watt. But he's getting a new system and he's getting a very nice power supply that I showed him, so he's all set there. The 6800GT is also only one slot just like the X800. And he just said he can now go higher than the 6800 I showed him because he made some changes so his system is cheaper. So forget the 9800 pro, 6800GT is his best choice. If he wants to go up to $500, he can get an X800XT PE or 6800 Ultra, either one they're both about the same speed though at the moment the X800 XT PE is faster.

i have been gliding closest to the x800 xt pe.
thanks for all your help bosox, btw, i liked your alien avatar better, although your name is bosox.when it come to power supply, you are right, it doesnt matter when i have well over the recommended for each.
thanks again, new pc within the next week or two here i come.
