A 40 minute portrait of an Actress/model friend of mine. I've wanted to paint this one for a while now and finally got around to it.

Working from a photo taken by the photographer Stuart Taylor. Painting seen here in its original size (I'm getting lazy doing them so low res now :( )

It's no Anry but meh I like it and thats all I care about :)

P.S. Personally I think it looks better than the photo, but shh don't tell Stuart I said that or he'll make me take it down :)

sheesh, thats a nice picture!

the one comment I would like to make the eye (her right) looks like it needs some attention. underneath theres a whole gang of white showing and there isnt on the other. also the other is way darker. maybe this is how the photo looks, but it looks odd.

Fenric, you continually impress me. You out-do yourself every time.

Here's to your future forays into the art of the female form.

:) :) :) :) :smoking:

P.S.: I've noticed most of the previous smilies are missing (mainly the ones with the beer). Oh well, keep drawing. Looking forward to your next works.

If the hair wasn't slightly brush-strokey I'd swear it was a photo.
Seriously, it's that realistic. Yow. :)

Nice watercolour filter there fenric ;)

Lol, I do hope you're being sarcastic :D

Anyway,

Very nice picture, better than anything I could ever do, well actually I can't even paint, drawing with a pencil and paper is more my style ;)

Very nice Fenric. What was this done in, and why did you apply a paper texture to it? :P Also, that chick semi-resembles buffy at a quick glance.

Would you be willing to post the origional?

It's cool if you don't want to. I don't know that I would.

Original photo as requested

Tim: cause it looked crap without the paper texture lol :). Did it in painter 8. Took it over to Photoshop and added a bit of a glow and fiddled about with the contrast/brightness

Murray: it's not a filter, try it with the above photo if you want

Wow.........if it wasn't for the hair, I'd have said you just photoshoped it.

And yeah....the photo of it sucks.

Good work artsy boy!!!

hehe ta

arsty boy hehehe nice name :D

From reading what Murray said I thought I'd have a go at using filters on it.. watercolor filter leaves edges around each shade of color, underpainting seems to help but then its all blurred too much.. But I invite everyone to try with filters though cause if it can be done with filters then I could be out of a job lol! So I need to make sure it can't be done :)

Not exact, but hey.. what do you expect with 5 minutes of level adjustments, blurring, and texturing of the source photo.

hehe, the one you did still owns fenric!

Yeah, me too, Fenric has some serious talent!

hehe I know Murray :)

hehe thanks guys, I'd respond more but I finally got my new PC and currently struggling to make it work, AthlonXP 3000+ and its telling me its 1.3ghz, so I've done something wrong :)

oh yeah and im right now forced to use one of those awful mice that come with some tablets, pity me! lol

What exactly did you do it with? Did you actually paint it on paper? Or did you use one of them graphics tablet things or something like that?
It looks like cartridge paper but i cant be sure.

tablet on the pc, paper texture gives it a more traditional appearance, with i like.
