A Game Announcement Thingy

Wouldn't this be possible? Above the giant forum list, a link that says 'GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS' in big letters. You click and you can either look at other people's announcements and comment on them, or create your own. You type in the name of the game, the server name, the ip, the password if applicable, etc. Each Announcement is a mini-thread, kind of a shoutbox style thing. So you can propose games or join games that are already going on.

We have one on...another site. And it works. Can we have one here?

If it's going to be like a shoutbox, why not call it server shout? I'm probably the best person in the world at making up names for things, so I would advise you 150% to take it, embrace it, and reap the benefits.

Indeed it could but there's loads of shoutbox hacks for vBulletin and they can be heavily logged and moderated.

Thing is though, people WILL still use it for other stuff other than just game server announcements... I might have a play around with it on my forums to see if I can mod it, but this all needs to be approved by the mighty-<strike>mouse</strike> man Munro.

True, it really does work, i love it, having one here would definately bring people together, so bigger slices of the community can play together. Assuming it can be moderated well, get Ennui to do it, it would benefit hl2.net alot i should think.
