2009 really was a good year for stop-motion animation. SMA usually isn't the preferred method of animation, but for some reason 5 major films were (or are going to be) released this year:

$9.99

Coraline

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Mary and Max

A Town Called Panic

Of these 5 I've only seen Coraline, but I plan to see Mr. Fox in the next week or two, and while Panic and 9.99 look interesing, I really want to see Mary and Max. 4 of the 5 movies are eligible for Academy Award nominations. But I guess it doesn't really matter because Up will most likely beat any of these. And if not Up it will be Ponyo (which I wouldn't mind since I enjoyed more than Up).
