if I get AAA (unlikely) I will go to Oxford to study cellular and mollecular biochemistry
if I get BBB (more likely) I will go to warwick to study biological sciences
worse than that? not thinking about it... much
It seems like a real shame to have not worked enough to be half confident of AAA when I spent so much time and effort convincing people at the Oxford interviews (3 day residential!)
I just want 3 b's. Then I will be set
ne-waller said:good luck with that, my brother just got a 2:1 in computer science, so I know how much work it is.

fun.
screw bureaucracy, folks, make your own path! education is a ****ing formality!
true as ever for anywhere, a lot more choice, etc.mortiz said:I agree, our education system is rather messed up, what we call education is actually just remembering as much stuff as possible for a test and then forgetting it all afterwards!!
I suppose the real education starts at University

I'm pretty much annoyed with the public school system here in california myself.
we have 6 periods a day. what does that mean? we get six classes we take every semester and for those of us on the perscribed "college track" which is oh so goddamn important, that means we get ONE semester of a true elective in all of four years in high school. one class that we choose what we want to learn.
Why do I need four years of english? I have mastery enough over the language that I can spell words better than most people that I know, have grammar that hasn't failed me much, and all this. now why 4 years of english when I want to be a coder? its useless. I understand perhaps 1 year or even 2 of english, but not four.
same with science. I don't think full fledged classes should be given to those who don't want them. everyone should know what cells are and stuff, basic health knowledge, about atoms, but going in depth for everything is so unnecessary.
but sadly none of this matter because at the pathetic school I'm out the furthest programming class is Intro to Visual Basic.
thanks, public education!
edit: well, that was a hell of a rant. glad to get that out of my system.
SHIPPI said:At least you have a programming class. We have two IT classes to choose from: In one, you learn how to type/use word. In the other, you learn how to use word/powerpoint. Oh joy. I'm working at a D grade, and, even though I got the highest mark possible in the yr10 exam (a C, they wouldn't let us take the higher paper :dozey: ) they just think I'm stupid/lazy, even though I've explained and complained so many times. *sigh*
Actually, it's the same in most classes. In English, whenever a 'new' word pops up (eg. remorse. What the hell?! ) half the class gets confused and the teacher has to spend 10 min explaining a word which they should have understood in primary school...
Ugh I do not want to go back there ;(
I'm gonna stop rambling now and just wish everyone who's getting their results today good luck!
