Jordan Weisman, formerly creative director at Microsoft and contributor to a number of FASA games, has now launched a new studio called Smith & Tinker, and has bought the rights to FASA's IP.

An announcement on Smith & Tinker's official Web site proclaims that the company has bought the electronic entertainment rights from Microsoft for MechWarrior, Shadowrun, Crimson Skies, and other FASA games. However, it remains coy about what it plans to do with these IPs. "We're not quite ready to announce our plans for each property, but please be assured our goal is to surprise and delight old fans, while welcoming new fans into these fantastic worlds."

I so hope this means a revival of the MW series, and hopefully better than MW4!
 
You ever play the Mechwarrior arcade game? The one with the real cockpits, seven screens, forty buttons, joystick, throttle, and foot peddals? I loved that game.

Until they released Mechwarrior Firestorm, which was a dumbed-down version of it for noobs. Breaks my clan-loving heart.

Best mecha game I've ever played was Steel Battalion on the XB1, it also had a huge joystick, 40+ buttons, two joysticks(one for aiming and one for turning etc), pedals and such.
 
Man that sounds awsome, if I could buy such a cockpit+singleplayer game with that sorta detail I so would, not much into MP.
 
Oh wow! I only played the original but this is one of my very first PC games. I bought it along with other bargain games at Costco way back in the day (1996, when I was only 9). All I remember was customizing your guy and the final flying mission. Also the 1 hit kill plasma launcher.
