As we understand, there will be, at least, another quarter before the hardcore games, such as Half-Life 2, Doom III and the Stalker, will be released officially to the general public. We hope that the developer of the title we tested today will optimise its product for NVIDIA GeForce FX hardware that currently runs simply awfully.
We still remember about ATI RADEON 8500’s poor performance in Unreal Tournament 2003 benchmark before release and rather fast speed shown by this graphics card after the official launch of the game. In case of titles developed by professional teams, such as Half-Life 2, we can be almost sure that they will run well on all hardware that is available in the market.
Developers of highly-anticipated games, such as Half-Life 2 or Doom III, have publicly admitted they were developing special rendering modes for NVIDIA hardware. As a result, even with some hopefully insignificant image quality degradation owners of the current GeForce FX 5600 and 5900-series of the graphics cards will also be able to play those 3D games. Unfortunately, there will be titles with no tangible optimisations for NVIDIA GeForce FX product line; hence, they will run like the highly-anticipated game we benchmarked today.
