A problem installing Half Life 2 =-(

Ok i'm having a problem installing it because it reads the disk then like stops at

"Base Source Shared Models.GCF"

I leave it alone and then about 10 minutes later i get a box popping up saying there's an error and to make sure the directory is available or that i have access to it. I do have full access to it and i can even see the file in there yet i always get this problem. I can install it online through Valve and both the game and the disk are legal and i own it and do have my account set up.

I have installed this game before with no problems but i am starting to think that it may be one (hopefully not both) of my RAM sticks causing the problem? I have looked on Google already for advice but was unable to find any. Please could somebody give me some advice as my computer is now able to play the game with all the settings on high yet i can't install it :hmph:

if its the same computer, forget about the disc and get it straight from steam is my advice
if not, delete the valve folder and start again

Okay..

Sorry i did look on the forum list but couldn't see a help section =-/

I'll download from Steam but for some reason none of the console commands work for me when i'm playing it through Steam =-(

Ok i figured everything out now.. Still can't install the actual game so i've gone through Steam. Also i found out why it was lagging and also why i've had other computer issues which i thought was the RAM.. The heat grill below my RAM was getting really hot and probably wrecking my motherboard and RAM above it so i fitted a fan and Half Life runs brilliantly now =-D

Lol well i have played it before but like ages ago.. I find that the game stutters more the further it progresses.. Any reason why?? lol
