Well I've had my computer since about October 2003.. and so far it's been running like a dream. However, lately there is a problem. First.. my specs:

Pentium 4 2.66 GHz
Asus P4PE Motherboard
80GB Western Digital HD
512MB PC-2700 RAM
GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB with AGP8x
Sound Blaster Live!
52x24x52x CD-RW Drive
16x DVD-Rom Drive
Cold Cathode
Raidmax Tower Case
320W Power Supply

Whenever I attach the side case power fan to my computer's power supply, it seems like the 80GB Hard Drive shuts down. There's a whirring sound that fades in and out randomly whenever it's connected. When I disconnect the side fan, everything goes back to normal. I was wondering if this would be a heat issue or maybe a power supply issue? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Try disconnecting your Cold Cathode and see if it has the same result.
Probably a PSU issue.
Harddrives are known to make noises when over heated though.
Troubleshoot it by stressing the harddrive when the fan isn't plugged in and try disconnecting the CCL as well.

Is the fan on the same molex cable as the hard drive? If it is, unplug the fan and rearranged the pins and make sure they go in. That same thing happened to me when I was doing some work on the computer. Took me a while to figure out that the problem wasn't the PSU or the harddrive, it was the power connectors were not properly connected.

Fans barely draw any power, so I am betting its not a power supply issue.

It seems to have worked.. but the problem is there's only one plug left that connects to the PSU and I'm not sure if I should use that one (because it might connect to the hard drive). My cathode is currently disconnected and everything runs fine, but I like my cathode :P
