Is it really necessary to run Chkdsk every time a game crashes? I mean, with games like Oblivion where not much can be done about the crashing, it can get annoying, but I've always been a bit OCD with my PC.

I always have to make sure everything is in top-notch condition before playing anything. The same goes for malware scans too. I always run a scan before playing to ensure I get the most out of my PC, as it's not really that superb anymore anyways. Am I being a little too OCD here? Should I relax a bit?

In more extreme cases, I also run JKdefrag and Registry Fix sometimes before playing too.

Is this all necessary or should I just do all this at least once a week?

Futhermore, I also disable almost all Windows services, user defined processes, and anti-virus programs before playing. Really helps with the performance quite a bit.

EDIT> I'd like to make a batch file to steamline the process of disabling everything, but haven't gotten around to doing so yet.

What's the difference in this program over a good registry cleaner?

Its fast and efficient (i didnt spell that right didnt i? ) Its not free though but it can be *cough*cough*

I had to pay for Registry Fix. It was a good investment though.

BTW, your spelling is correct, except you forgot to capitalize your "I's" and you left out the comma in "It's". I don't mind though. :)

Why run chkdsk after a game crash? Most hard drive activity from the game is reading and that doesn't modify the data so there is not risk of corruption.
