Since I got my new monitor, I've been thinking if my previous one died because of improper voltage? The user documentation doesn't mention anything about this and there's no voltage rating on the back label of the monitor. However, there's a label that has the amp and voltage rating on the power cable that came with the new monitor, (12amp 125volts) Is this standard? This lead me to assume that maybe this is what the monitor is rated as too.
Now here's how I came to the conclusion that maybe my previous monitor was getting improper voltage. Since the label on the new monitor's power cable said 12amp 125volt, I checked my UPS software to see what was the current input/output voltage and it was 120volts.
I've had my old monitor connected to my UPS the entire time before I started having trouble with it, so maybe the whole issue had something to do with improper voltage? What should I do this time? I have no power strip, just my UPS. Could plugging my monitor in directly to the socket be even more dangerous to the monitor if the UPS is indeed distributing bogus voltage? I've got to protect my investment just in case I screwed up with the old one, so some advice would be nice.
*I highlighted this section just in case some of you would rather have the short version. Aren't I considerate? *
