Was it all worth it?

The years of waiting, the binks, the warez, now that we as a whole have the game, was it all worth all of it?

yeah, I would say it was, however, i'm gonna miss all the excitement and annoyance of waiting, in some maschoistic way lol..
Its like, it was the waiting and speculating that built this community, who knows where it'll go now?

From the looks of it, yes.

I'll let you know for sure in a months time ;)

Yea i think it was, but i kinda feel like somthing is missing, all the excitment! I dunno what im gunna do after i compleat it, i got nothing to be excited about. I wont be rushing home to check for news. Well ill guess ill move on to another game hehe STALKER! here we come! :)

yes, it was worth it. i got to know most of you pretty well and i hope you all stick around and discuss the cool mods that are bound to come out. hopefully ill see most of you ingame soon.

Hot damn it was worth it. Christ, makes Doom 3 look like a piece of shit.

Most definetly :)

btw, when'd you become a mod bliink?

Most deffinatley. I've never played anything so impressive since the original. But like any other game - it has it's frustrating and dissapointing aspects. But the sheer excelence drowns out those issues.

I'm glad to see a thread like this that's not flooded with the spam of the General Discussion. I feel like I don't know that place anymore... :(

So far, it's an outstanding game. I was crying with joy at the first two chapters, but the third and fourth were slightly less impressive (e.g. really fun instead of completely mindblowing). I can't wait to get the manipulator now.

It was worth it for me. Although I learned a lesson I will never forget.

Don't ever get this involved and excited about a game again. It just feels so depressing once you finally have it and you know that over a year of excitement has come down to good 17+ hours and then it will for the most part all be over.

Next game I get really excited about I am going to make sure I don't get nearly as involved in it as I have with HL2.

But the waiting was a game in itself, you have to admit. It had drama, action, excitement, plot twists... What else could you ask for? I went into the hype with the knowledge that it was just a game - and now I have the game, and that is indeed true.

What more could I ask for? A better social life and something more relaxing on the nerves. ;(

Ah, so that's what I'm feeling.

Yes, because its not just HL2, its mods galore as well :D

worth it so far, i expect good games coming out of teams like insurgency though :)

I haven't played it yet, but frankly I don't care if it's the best game ever or a complete waste of time.
This community rocks so much it's been worth it already.

hi guys,

to me it's always worth it. i think this is an awesome community... well ... at least all the veteran users i've gotten to know and what not. even ones i don't talk to outside forums seem pretty cool. at least everyone's got the whole forum etiquette thing down... jesus i tried to look in the hl2 related forums and... wow what a mess.

okay now specifically discussing the game; gah, i am immensely happy at how the game turned out. it's more than everything i had hoped for (except hl2dm but eh whatever, been a cs fan for years oh well...). but yeah, i plan on playing hl2 to death, something i haven't felt for any games since... jedi outcast came out... most games i'll be all over for a while... but it just sorta wears out. not so this time.

Yeah definitly, i have really had a good time here. And i was here most for the people here. I rarely visited the Half-Life 2 Discussion before the game was released.

It feels like boxing day.

Yeah it was worth it. Too short though, definitely too bloody short.

Can't complain about a thing. VALVe delivered.

Yup sure was. Glad to see all the vets didnt run off and join some stalker forum..

It was worth it yes...The prolonged wait I think has made this all the better.

I know I wouldnt be friends with a lot of people if I had been playing half-life 2 back in september 2003. I wouldn't have done well at college at all and the game wouldn't have been as good.

As for what now...Well people say the journey is the fun part, but life is a journey :D Perhaps people who got to know each other here won't stick around or keep in touch, but we will all gain new friends and new experiences in the next great adventure. (Man...its like leaving college or something :O) After all...theres always halflife3.

Not for me...But then I managed to squeeze 3 years out of regular hl (No mods) mapping, without loosing interest. In fact, I only stopped because of Sven Coop, Spirit of Half-Life and a few other mods.

That bring up a question! Is this site gonna change it's name to halflife3.net or what?

Btw, I'm gonna be at this site for a while... ;) So it looks like you guys are gonna have to put up with my southern ass for a long time. :p

LOL, flipflop'd.

if it wasn't for this forum, i would've lost interest.

it's great to be around others, discussing everything etc.

The only reason I stayed so long was for the community, HL2 was just something that happened to be on the trip I took here.

I'm talking about shut up, nancy.

Hear what I just said to that guy? I totally brung him.

Was the game worth all that? I don't know. I'm still undecided.

But I was mostly here for the community anyway, so it doesn't matter how the game is.

Well ive never seen any videos, seen about one picture and a tiny bit of text on it. I havent got it yet either and I dont really talk about it much. This site just has some great off topic with good members :) thats the only reason im here bugger hl2 :p GTA is probably better

Oh no...I thought Hl2 was the most amazing game I've ever played.

Really.

The community was worth it. No doubt about that.

The game? Still undecided. It made some great strides in certain areas, but HL2 wasn't perfect. It has several glaring flaws that has made me bitter towards the game in certain respects.

What flaws do you mean? Just curious as I pretty much feel the same way.

The constantly loading times. I was/am (still playing HL2) so drawing into HL2 only to have that immersion utterly killed by 20 second load times every 20 minutes. It just bugs me to no end. The best way I can describe loading times in HL2 (from my perspective) is like an itch that you can't scratch. That itch isn't the worst thing in the world, but it isn't the best thing in the world.

I also don't like the pace of the game once the action started. I wanted to be able to enjoy the beautiful graphics (instead I have to worry about getting my ass shot off constantly). Some people have said HL2 started too slow, I disagree. I think the first part of HL2 was perfect.

That and their barnacle placement isn't quite up to tabs yet either. ;)
