A really good idea

But all the snipers and campers will probably hate it :D

Why not have multiple starting locations for both teams.
Each round the teams will start at one of the spots randomlyt chosen.

This would make the maps a whole lot interesting as you don't know where you are going to start next time,
and you never know where the enemy starts.

And... if the physics is remade to be like in HL2DM you could have all the
"loose objects" (some of which aren't loose now) like crates,
barrels and all that sort of stuff, randomly scattered throughout
the map at the start of each round.

This would also contribute to getting a different experience every
time you play, as you won't know where all the good sniping spots
are, thus making it harder for snipers and the snipees ;)

Edit: All who disagree will be labeled a "sniping mutha fukkin camper"

It will be lol if the terrorists get spawned right in the bombsite.

I guess you could set certain areas for each team to be able to spawn at, or random members in an area - but they'd have to make the buy zone *huge*, or everyone could have their own personal buy zone, but what if someone's buy zone is over an inportant location? If they had a buy/throw nade script they could send hundreds :p

It's a good idea, I really like it. It would be harder to implement though as you would have to take several extra things into consideration when designing the map.

Hi there,

i like the "loose objects" idea, but different spawn points isnt that good.

By the way, look at this thread, has nothing to do with it, but is a good idea, too, i think.

What I meant was that there are a number of predefined areas in which you can start. Obviously not too close to the bombing site for the Ts ;)
The buy zone would only be enabeled for the area in which you spawned.

A bit harder to make than the usual "static" maps, but not that hard.

I think that what would be needed is this:

Ability to set several spawnpoints.
A ranomizer which chooses the spawnpoints for the teams.

Ability to set areas in which the loose objects should scattered.
A randomizer which throws out the objects in the object areas.

If valve wants to do this they can, without much trouble.
But perhaps it should be implemented on new maps to start with so that the old and tried gameplay remains the same.

We wouldn't want to destroy all the fun for those pesky little AWPers, right? ;)

Edit: Actually, I really think that this would be more fun for everyone.

it's possible... you can have triggers based on code involving random numbers to enable / destroy spawn points ... for players and/or items

neat idea, would make things interesting rather than when one team ALWAYS rushes a tunnel...and another ALWAYS camps it...

Yep, makes you deal with the situation at hand.
This would hopefully reward the tactical team. Not the look-how-fast-I-can-run-with-a-knife-team that will be at your spawnpoint before you even buy your gun.

Yellonet ... maybe we could make a map like this... it's not horribly complicated, although I am in the middle of a CS:S level this sure sounds like fun.... any ideas? it has to be a little different than the maps now... not much, but a little...

I'm really no expert on mapping... I know the basics.. pretty much.
But it would be fun to try =)

hmmm..but should the spawns be totally scattered or as groups? ... this could make for some interesting gameplay...

I can't really come up with a great idea for a map... maybe I'll finish mine, I haven't actually set up spawns lol just one so I can run through the level see how "big" it is

I actually considered this, spawning in different places before....

I'd put in some sort of safeguard so the teams won't spawn directly next to eachother though... or maybe... muahahaha

I was thinking the regular groups. But you could have separate spawning as an option.
It could be used when you want to go crazy or perhaps when you want a sudden death to settle a even score in the last round.

this was done on rainbox six rogue spear, man thats oing back a long ass time

basically on each map both teams have 2 spawn points

lets call them
ct-1
ct-2
t-1
t-2

so u could spawn with

ct-1 and t-1
ct-1 and t-2
ct-2 and t-1
ct-2 and t-2

now u would be told at the start which site u were all at, now they were all very close but changed ur tactics greatly

When you are making your map just put a spawn point away from the main spawn. It works. Remember to give it a buyzome though!

My idea is that there are way more than two spawnpoints per side and you won't know where the enemy starts.

Plus the random placement of objects throughout the map would make a big difference every round you play.

Anybody talented enough to make this happen?
And yes, Valve, you guys have my permission to incorporate this in the next update for CS:S ;)

It would be good to use in a hostage map, the tierrorists would have taken up different places inside the building and ct's would attempt to rescue them from different sides
