Okay, so the end of my 3 years at Uni is coming up at the end of April.
And as a parting 'gift' from my parents, who are almost always in a different country (dad's work, no marital problems), or atleast have been since my A-levels started, theyve decided to put a fairly hefty sum my way to be put toward a decent car.
Currently I have a peugeot 205 from ***king 1985, oh yes. I ***t you not. Granted I dont use it much as its at home and im up at Uni. Its so old that when I went to a garage in town to get some oil the guy behind the counter said 'A 205!? From 1985?? Didnt realise they were even still around', and this guy was pushing 60 at a guess, bit of a legend though.
Anyway, im currently torn on what car to buy, 2nd hand of course.
I want a small, cheap, 'city car' that has decent mileage to get me around wherever it is that my degree takes me.
My first thoughts were between a VW Golf, a Polo (mmm, doubtful though) or a Toyota Yaris/Auris/Aygo.
Then the Yaris changed to an Auris because they look less girly, which then changed to an Aygo because it won a best mileage award..or something, or was it the other way around.
Either way, I then noticed that almost every Yaris or Auris or Aygo I see are driven predominantly by women...which is annoying because what the hell else is there left that doesnt make a man look like a fag in the process?
So now im completely torn, as almost all of those cars are around ?5k on the 2nd hand market these days, some around the 4k mark, which is a friggin steal depending on the year, and I dont know which to go for in a few months because they seem to all appeal to women more than men, and I personally cant think of any interesting car (ie no fords) that are small, and that men wont look like prats in.
Auris
Yaris
Aygo
Golf
Polo
Citroen C2
Those are pretty much my viable, affordable cars to select from.
Any preferences? Or alternate choices?
