His name was Mr Hammet, he had back surgery Saturday morning. One and a half hours later, he died from a heart attack.

Some students were angered; some were crying. I, however didn't honestly care. I mean, I have never met the man, but alot of people are very negative to my response, it just pisses me off.

"Aren't you sad about his death?"
"No. I never met him."
"OH MY GOD YOU PHYCO!"

He had a family, which I feel sorry for; they may have a void that they may never fill. Alot of staff members were very broken down today so the overall morale was pretty damn now today.

well, you can only tell your true feeling, just say "damn i feel sorry for his family, but i never met the guy".

or just ignore them.. :upstare:

"Aren't you sad?"

"Yes, hold me!"

Best way to get a new girlfriend

Everyone has their own way of reacting when something bad happens, there's no wrong or "insensitive" way.

Back around the tsunami catastrophe, (It was a sad thing for most in sweden since so many swedes were killed there) alot of people were affected by it, some cried and reacted in such ways, and some didn't do a damn thing even though they were sometimes the ones with the most damage, losing relatives there.

It's common to simply not bother or have the strength or care to mourn "correctly", but that doesn't mean you're a coldhearted bastard.

This reminds me of the time a teacher was off school,
and my mate said "He's had kidney failure, and he's in hospital!"

Then this teacher was in school to take the class a couple of days after.

"Did you have kidney failure, Sir?"
"No"
"Were you in hospital, Sir?"
"No, I just had a bit of flu"

Lying bastard that my mate was.

I mourned my teacher when he died, last march. The greatest teacher ever, taught us all how to make an atom bomb using a common postman, a townhouse and 300 tonnes of weapons-grade uranium.

I miss him, and i'll miss him for a while.

Everyone is going to die, there is no suprise so how can it be that sad?
Some people call me heartless but i don't really care who dies unless it affects me.
I see no reason to be sad over the death of someone who you do not regularly communicte with.
I'm only sad if a close friend or close family member dies, even then it's not too bad because i know they are dead, that means they can never feel pain again likewise they can never feel hapiness so its just meh, selfish feelings that you can no longer communicate with them.

same with me when the pope died...

i didnt know him, so him passing away didnt bother me.

Danimal you were like how I was acting when a kid around here did in an accident he caused and killed a mother/wife. I didn't feel sorry for him, even though I knew him, he was speeding and being reckless, and then killed that mother.

Not caring is a natural defense for humans. If you cared about everyone who died but didn't know then you'd be in a constant state of depression. I don't care about a lot of "major" things that happen but I don't voice my opinion because people are stupid.

Lots of people seem to be dying in the village where i live. Which is actually quite strange, and some people were joking and saying "who next?"

me: hi
him: ahh this guy died!
me: ok
him: h4x!!!
/me runs
him+others: H4X!!!!

i remember when i was at school, my woodwork teacher commited suicide and the week after, an amazingly sound teacher collapsed of ...i can't remember what now ...but he died on the way to hospital...i saw him being carted out of school aswell...

i remember going in the day after, the day of the woodwork teachers funeral and they sent us home after half an hour...teachers were crying and everything

odd times

People are getting angry at you for not being shook up over the death of a man you've never met? That's nuts.

:O A teacher at my school went missing about two years ago. It was a really big shock though, the whole school was crammed in the hall (like 1800 kids heh) and the head teacher was saying - "He went missing last Friday and nobody had seen him since." ... "His body was found yesterday evening in the thames"

I honestly didn't care that much - I didn't know him at all, although everyone was pretty quiet that day. Apparently he committed suicide, but they never really gave us the details - that's just a rumour.

Oh yeah, my own personal story.

My sixth grade science teacher was gay. He didn't flaunt it or even speak about it openly, but if you met him, that would probably be your impression. about 3/4 of the way through the school year, 3 19-year-old guys kidnapped him, took him out into a sugar cane field, shot him 3 times, wrapped him in a blanket with our school emblem on it, and left him there. I was furious, of course, but what made me even more furious was the reaction of some of my class mates - "Serves him right for being gay."

That's awful :| :(

When I hear about someone I don't know dying naturally, I don't feel anything.. but the Tsunami got to me though, and stuff like suicide bombings/train crashes, murders etc does too

What happened to the 3 19 year olds?

My chemistry teacher died of cancer last year, so we had no1 to teach us chemistry for a whole year. We did poo on the tests.

Holy shit. That story just killed my mood.

In all honesty, I hope those three kids die a painful death, even though it wouldn't solve anything.

The amount of bigotry in this world sickens me.

He was quite young and healthy.

How can he be healthy if he needs surgery and dies of a heart attack?

Anyway that's besides the point, I completely agree with you, and would have said the same thing. When I was in high school, one dude died of a seizure or something on the basketball court during PE. Sure I was sad, sucks to die like that and at that age, but what really pissed me off was people overacting and pretending it was the end of the world when they didn't even know the guy's name.

Serves them right for being cold-blooded heartless murderers.

Should of shot them in the same field. Sick world we live in.

The last four years I've lost:
1.) Two close friends, car accident and colon cancer. (These two really got me. :-\)
2.) A great uncle to pulmonary fibrosis.
3.) A friend of the family, died of old age.
4.) A teacher, I did'nt know her too well.
5.) Two classmates, heartattack and a car accident.

The 3 people mentioned in bold died within a week or each other. That week sucked. ALOT. :(

Ouch, but you know what they say. "Always in threes"
