Well, I have to take a leave of absence from the forums. Sadly, my time in China has come to an end. ;(

My thesis is finished, most of my belongings are now en route back to Australia. And the summer holidays have started!

So I'm going to spend a month backpacking around South East Asia - country hopping my way back from China to Australia. I've got a month before I need to be back in Sydney to start finishing that IT degree I left 18 months ago.

Places I will be visiting:

China (as I am here now)
Malaysia
Thailand
Brunei

And wherever my budget can take me.

Maybe when I get back to Sydney in August a miracle will have occurred, and Half-Life 2 will be available! Or at least gone gold...

So see ya for a month!

Have a good one - eat as much weird food as you can :)

Hey Pogrom! you'll be missed, good luck ...stay safe while making your way back home. Oh and have a great summer, looking forward to your return.
cya :)

heh, thanks guys ;)

Hmmm, I wonder what could be on the menu in the coming weeks. My girlfriend is Malaysian, and I'm sure she has some favourite places picked out for me.

I'm just sad that I have to go from a month touring tropical paradises, back to Sydney locked in winter :(

And CptStern - I'm counting on you to keep the political debates rolling

I dont think I can do it alone :)

mmmmmm malaysian food (dont know what exactly it is but sounds spicy ;) )

Malaysian food? Well, according to my girlfriend it is a mixture of Cantonese and Fuzhou Chinese food, mixed with Indian food, mixed with the native Malay food.

The native Malay food is similar to Thai, but is apparently much better. I'm going to sample both and make up my own mind.

Don't know who you are but adieu anyway.

Hmm, your idea of journeying the world with a girlfriend, seems like an excellent way to pass the time 'til Hl2 release. Shame I got no dough.

Don't tell anyone - but I'm getting a lot of the money from the Australian Government. Gotta love that full-time student, self-supporting status. Since I'm getting full credit from my Aussie uni for being in China, I am still entitled to my study benefits.

And in China the cost of living is significantly lower...

And thanks CrazyHarij! See you in August.
