a very very very very small good thing appears on the aliens vs predators 2 movie

I liked the first one.

Rofl now this is funny! :D http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/avp2/ Some interesting bits on there. Like the aliens and predators will be brought to Colorado. The first film was good btw. Also an alien costume was stolen off the set and the FBI is searching for it! :D Now how cool would that be owning a real authentic alien costume huh?! :bounce: Directors seem to know what they are doing so that's good.

The director did Nickelback videos, and the writer is a hack.

This movie will be shit, and if you liked the first one then you have shit taste in movies, and you should die.

Find some decent movies here - http://criticker.com/?a=6239

Well yeah he did screw up the story line of the series completely. Well idk it's hard to say. In Predator 2 it showed an alien skull in the backround and everybody said "ohhh aliens vs predator movie?!" I met the guy who was in the first movie as the alien and the other guy playing the predator. It was expensive getting a pic and autograph for each of them, so I didn't get one. :( They said that they have no idea about what's going on with Predator 3. Alien 6 they said was going no where but Sigourney Weaver was up for it. She hasn't been in a film forever though and is getting old like Harrison Ford. Go fight aliens grandma! :D I mean Ford is almost 70 (63 in fact) and going to be fighting nazi's in Indy 4. Ehh it's hard to say but the only way for them to continue the series is with a video game adaptation. Yes I'm pissed off they killed Wayland too. :( It was bound to happen to the series though.

yes, because that piece of shit is the reason that Sigourney Weaver doesn't want to make another Alien movie, which would have actually been good. on a side note, having an actual alien suit would be the funnest thing ever, imagine how you could terrorize people :D

This will be shit. But I'll proboally end up wasting money to see it anyway. :(

Arnie needs to return if this is gonna have any hope of success.

well to be fair, it cant get any worse than avp.i mean, if there was one point that they really made obvious in the predator movies it was that they only show up when its really really hot. So naturally, the next place theyd be is ****ing ANTARCTICA.....

The first predator movie and the first 2 alien movies are the only ones that were ever made as far as I'm concerned. Alien vs Predator what? I can't here you LALALALA!!!

Wrong. The predators found our planet and found out that we had all the condtions for life. So naturally being predators, the hunt was on. They wanted more skulls to fill their collection. Since they found the Amazon filled with so much life they went there. Then they found humans and their guns. The predator saw this as a worthy challenge and heads started rolling lol. Hey AVP is on right now on FX. Just started at 9:00PM EST.

in predator the local native talks about how they only show up when it's really hot, and in predator 2 they follow that up by constantly making references to the crazy heat wave thats going on at the time...

IMDB says we are both right believe it or not:
In Predator it is said that the Predators only appear in 'the hottest years'. In Predator 2 it is said that, in the past, Predators have appeared in Iwo Jima, Beirut and Cambodia, as they are drawn to heat and conflict. While the latter two areas have a hot climate, Iwo Jima was very cold and rainy during the U.S. offensive of World War II. In addition to that, it has never been stated that Predators can not stand cold at all, so showing them in a cold area is not a contradiction at all. It just shows that, even though they prefer heat, they can also function when it is cold. Also, the cold on the surface may have been part of the challenge in the hunting ritual of AVP's Predators, and the pyramid was probably warmer. After all, it gave off a heat signal. Dark Horse Comics released Predator: COLD WAR in the early nineties, in which, predator's hunt humans in Siberia. It should be noted, though, that comics are generally not considered canon.

interesting, but i'd be willing to bet they didnt use reasoning like that to include antarctica. I'd be far more willing to bet Paul anderson is a douchebag that had no idea what the **** he was doing :)

Who thought AVP would be the next Alien or Predator? All I wanted to see was those two critters fight, and I was thoroughly pleased. I wasn't expecting any more storyline than what was there and if they abused the canon, maybe there's something we don't know yet. Maybe the Predators knew that if they didn't keep the Aliens on an isolated continent in the ice, that they'd take over the planet. Apparently the Antarctic playground was for Predator 'rights of passage', so maybe they wanted it to be harder on the rookies? They didn't exactly make it easy with the shifting mazes, so maybe the cold climate was another difficulty. Note: don't go into this next one expecting it to follow what you think is canon nor to have a good storyline.

Saw this promo LONG LONG LONG time ago...

I disagree. If they'd made any attempt to explain the obvious contradictions to the previous movies, that might be acceptable. The fact that there was not even the slightest attempt to make it fit with established canon suggests to me that they didnt realise the mistake, because they didnt know or care about the previous story.
Also, in answer to your question, It's not that I expected another Alien or Predator, it's that the existence of the AvP movies effectively means there most likely won't be another Alien or Predator.

Note: don't go into this next one expecting it to follow what you think is canon nor to have a good storyline.

You're right about this, and that's what sucks so much. I'd like to be excited when someone makes a new movie of a brilliant old series like Alien, Predator or Terminator, but common sense tells me that its going to be shit, and a big disappointment. It just pisses me off that the new directors always talk up what "big fans of the series" they are, yet they can never even bother getting it right.

I didn't like AvP. I didn't hate it either. I was watching it again yesterday on FX and in the fight scenes between the two species I think it delivered. The story was ass but some movies you just don't watch for the story. Some movies you just want to have a mind-numbing, fairly forgettable experience that involves dynamic camera angles, stuff getting smashed, and/or bullet time.

All of which were delivered.

Also Xiphos, with regard to another Alien or Predator movie, the two Predator movies were great and there's no need to go any further on those. As for the Alien franchise, do you really want another movie after Resurrection? Eugh. It's far more likely that's what killed the franchise more than AvP. AvP looks like friggin' Oscar material compared to Resurrection.

Nah, in an interview Sigourney Weaver specifically said she wanted to do Alien 5, until she heard about avp, which made her decide not to do it because she felt it was cheapening the series. Conveniently I have no idea where i read the interview. Possibly in my mind.
Basically, it all boils down to Aliens being my favourite series ever since i was 10 years old, and watching it slowly get turned to shit makes me sad.

Game over man, Game over. What the **** are we gonna do now?

I actually thought the battles were short and not too great.

Even if you just set AvP aside and consider it completely separate from everything else in those two series....try watch Alien and then go watch AvP. You just kinda get a sad lump in your throat.

someone should force james cameron and ridley scott by gun point to make a new alien movie

Also, you seem to be confusing Alien with a Vin Diesel movie :D

I don't remember him doing much bullet time in The Pacifier.

Ridley Scott is a prick to producers and actors though. Everything has to be just right or else the entire scene has to be done all over again. He's a perfectionist which is a good or bad thing. You decide just by watching Blade Runner. Harrison Ford got pretty angry at him too. So I don't think a studio would fund him unless he had his own studio. James Cameron makes all the cool stuff though including Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, you name it.

Alien vs. Predator cheapened the series? After RESURRECTION?! o_0

I dunno about that. I've seen Vin Diesel movies...I don't remember too much bullet time going on in them. But AvP had a lot more of it than it should've (the correct number being zero).

That's the only bad thing about said battles: too short. All the battles were one-on-one as well, missing the chance for a real good pred vs. mob scene.

I liked the fight scenes though. I thought they were good albeit, again, short.

Also predators should know better than to bring back failures onboard without checking to see if theres an alien in em.

Predator - awesome
Alien - awesome

But the two just dont mix damn it!

Maybe they were aware of the "pred-alien" and still wanted to honor him and later use the pred-alien for a hunt ...?

ontopic: AVP2 should have gore to the max.
