how do u turn on AA and AF in games that dont have that option in the menu like in counter-strike

Desktop properties > Settings > Advanced

It'll be somewhere in the advanced section, it's different for ATi and nVidia cards.

Smoothvision is ATi's own name for AA and AF, so yeah, pretty much. There should be options to increase and decrease AA and AF levels.

after u set it up does AA AF only turn on wen u play a game?

becuause it says for open GL AA 4x u cant have higher res then 1024x768 and my desktop is 1280x1024

It's 'on' when you tell it to be, you only really use it in game applications though... it shouldn't restrict you to that resolution if you can go higher than that already. Turn it on, it shouldn't change your resolution.

k it worked AA makes u have no bumpy edges but its kinda blurry is it supposed to be.... and wat does AF do?

It'll probably seem blurry at first, since it smoothes off the jagged edges, yeah. AF is used to make textures seem clearer at a distance - the distance increases as you add more samples; 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x

When in game as you look at the ground it goes farther away from you.
They use different sized textures and blend them to show the ground, walls etc.

The detail is not there at all when you look far away compared to what is up close.
When you enabled AF it blends the different sized textures better and the farther textures show much more detail than they did before.

Personally I can't stand not to use some level of AF.
