I was wondering what it will take to run Half Life 2 with full graphics and AA on. If I used a 2100+ w/512mb ddr and a radeon 9800 128mb, I doubt I could have full AA on. So, my question is, what will it take to play with AA?

How would we know? :p

Ask Gabe very nicely and he might tell you.

Depends on what one mean play. If you get around 30 fps with 6xAA, is that playable for you? Anyway, its really hard to tell... No one have noted any fps ranges for the E3 test. We only know it ran with 60fps, but I assume that was with sync and the stress of having the recorder playing. We do not know if it can reach 100 or 200 fps. Doubt it though :)

At any rate, 4xAA on the 9800/9700/9500 is nice enough really. Its not much of a hit. Then again, 6xAA isnt either.

yeah who gives a shit about AA. I prefer to run the game at full res :D

Well, as long as I ahve a CONSTANT 30fps+ and it doesnt dip to 25 or below, yeah, that's fine for me. So you think I'll be able to have 4xAA on?

Yes. And 6xAA for that matter. Its just to turn down the details until its fast enough :)

But seriously, NO ONE KNOWS! Well, no one here, Valve knows. But HL2 isnt THAT fancy (morrowind could play at 30 fps with 100,000 polys on screen).

Oh, well I mean maxed details ;-)

Details will come before AA, but once I'm at max details, if I have more than 30 fps, like 40 or something, ill try out AA
