is there anyway to get my Half life cd key from registry or any files?

i cant find the sticky thing with the cdkey =[

If you have steam installed, then it is tied with your account. But if you're not using steam for some reason, then go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > VALVe > Half Life > Settings
and it should be there with Key as the name of the value.

All you need is your email and your password.

Or go to regedit and find everyithing that has the word "half-life" in it and delete it... thats what I do when I f*ck up somewhere along the line.

Hmm.. I have the "Key" entry, but the value is not a HL Cd-key. It's just a string of numbers. Wrong length and no letters.

Any ideas?

I already stated that all you needed was your email and your password.

That's not the point. I'd quite like to find my old cd-key, (lost the box :() incase something happens with my account.

Or I ever need to re-enter it for whatever reason.

Is it a Half-Life CD key, or something else like Opposing Force?

I don't remember the HL CDkey having any letters. It's just numbers, no hyphens. I've recovered CDkeys that same way.

Prehaps I'm miss remembering, thought it had letters in.

Orig HL Cd-key = 9 numbers?

XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX is the original HL CD key

Hmm.. my key aint long enough then. Only 9 numbers.

That's the beauty of steam. Nothing is likely to happen to your account, and if it does, just e-mail the good ol' guys at Valve and they'll have everything fixed, likety split.

And you could always e-mail them and see if they can give you your CD-Key. I doubt they would without proof though.

You've just posted the opposite of what is true, in it's entirety :P
