This just in on all the major wires:
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed. That has been confirmed by an aide of Iraq's prime minister. More details will be given during a press conference later today.
Source: Sky News

Holy shit, the US managed to do something right in Iraq? Nice one.

I kinda feel bad for being joyful for someones death but, hell with it.

WOOHOO!

And thank God for that :p

Die, little terrorist, die :sniper:

One less terrorist in the world is one more smile on my face.

This is good news, but ultimately pointless if we don't see any results.

There was a 25million bounty on his head. Will the pilot who conducted the air raid get it? Or the guy who gave he tip off? Or no one?

probably no one
interesting stat yesterday - 1400 Iraqis were murdered in May in Bagdhad alone not counting those killed by US forces. I pity the politicians tbh :(

Great...but they still can't find Bin Laden with all that technology, heh.

Personally I don't see why this is good news.

Tin Foil Turban.

AWESOME!!! My mom told me when I woke up this morning. They need to put his head on a pike and leave it right outside the Green Zone.

Some good news finally from Iraq. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. :)

OLD ZARQAWI VIDEO OUTTAKES SHOW HIM AS PISS POOR GUNMEN. ASSOCIATES GRAB HOT RIFLE BARRELS.

Hillarious.

which kind of reveals how organised/dangerous/fearsome they really are ...one could ask the question ..what the hell took you so long? ...I mean watch the video ..is that a mastermind behind the world's deadliest organization or a amateurish collection of ragtag fighters who have more heart than brains? the video speaks as much of zarqawi's incompetance as it does the US'

Shooting a pkm does not mean the guy is any less intelligent, this guy is high up on the food chain, and thank god America got em.

While it probably won't matter for grassroots terrorists like those in Canada recently and others like them all over the globe, this is certainly a blow to their egos and their network. And any damage to their network might mean that one more wannabe jihadist can't figure out what ingredients to put in his bomb. I can't wait to see what Stratfor has to say about this...

And they can't find Bin Laden because he is hiding whereas Zarqawi was actually fighting in the trenches with the troops in Iraq. You still have to admire Bin Laden though: more money than most of the small countries in the world and living not in luxury but in frickin caves. Using his money not for bottles of Cristal and big booty bitches, but for a "noble" struggle against the infidels. That is quite an impression to make on your followers. Still hope we smoke him out....

man that's dangerous talk in your neck of the woods ..shortly after 9/11 that'd get you strung up ...not that I dont agree with it (not the stringing up part, the "noble" struggle part) :)

Yeah, its a little strange to hear, esp. from someone who witnessed the WTC coming down before his very eyes, but I never really looked at him that way until recently. It really is no wonder he has so many followers because he is really demonstrating that he is one of the people and usning his vast wealth to bankroll a cause that tons of people beileve to be just and right.

Of course, Bush is doing the same thing on the other side of the coin, but he's doing it from high atop a golden throne studded with the bones of the thousands of dead from the war and the skins of the shareholders and employees of the companies that big businesses that he is involved with have f*cked over on their way to the top. Not exactly a role model. Not one to be identified with by the people.

That's actually an American M249 SAW. And if you watch that vid closely you can also see some dudes running around with American M4's.

And capturing Saddam wasn't "right"?

I would put good money on the fact that he's either dead or fled the Middle East. His videos are easily falsified or duplicated.

I also applaud Zarq's capture. May he rot in hell with American boy band music blaring in the background.

How many time did they say this man was dead? So I assume its official now that they show a pic.

Now onto Osama Bin payed-for, ringleader of Al-CIAda

yes ..because the war was illegal in the first place ..Saddam shouldnt have been disposed ..not under false pretenses like what ended up happening

finding bin laden will probably be a lot harder. The guy is in a cave somewhere completely unable to communicate with his allies electronically. He has been run to ground.

well you guys arent exactly that good at finding things ..especially when you're not trying especially hard ..too many things diverting your attention like secret prisons, waging war, scaring the masses etc

imho opinion the US should have shut the hell up from the very beginning, sent out special forces, colaborated with other countries into tracking those responsible for 9/11 down, quickly, quietly and while you still had world approval ...that should have been job one. But no, the US doesnt really want osama captured ..he's good at keeping the "war" on terror alive

The pretenses are indeed debatable, but in all honesty while I am against military invasion and residence of Iraq, I would not have minded Saddam being accidentally killed by a falling opera house chandelier. Hence I'd chalk up his capture and trial as one of the precious victories with this one we've had in this otherwise costly debacle.

The US capture of Osama would do much more to restore our otherwise defunct credibility than pretending he is out there.

You must think the war is a big conspiracy...:|

yeah i duno, maybe its me but i always find it ironic with these terrorists, they hate the west, america etc yet love american made weaponry:rolling:

I was just responding to his comment ..and yes powell was involved ..he's stated that his speech in front of the security council that made the case for war based on sketchy intelligence was the lowpoint of his career

I've always thought Powell was the sane one in that administration, until he left. He urged Bush to try and seek a diplomatic solution, and he prefered alternatives to war, after having a rought Vietnam experience. Although, it wasn't that effective, he is considerably more moderate than the rest of those in the government. And he mentioned that the neo-con hawks were pushing for an Iraq war even before 9/11.

He even referred to neo-cons like Rumsfeld as "****ing crazies" at some point I think.

ya I agree ...he was the sane(er) one out of the bunch ..however it's just utterly deplorable that even though he was a career military person he would willingly send fellow soldiers to their graves knowing full well that the information they were desiminating to the general public was falsified
