Adding a second Harddrive...

I bought a 6 GB harddrive off my friend for $5 and it's fully functional and want to use it as a backup... how would i go about doing that. I have it installed but windows doesn't see it. can anybody help?

Have you created a partition and formated the drive?
Can't see the drive with out having a partition on it and cant use it with out formating.
If you have a Windows XP cd, just boot from that and there are options to partition/format the drive and you can exit after that.
But if you have a Win9x system (95,98,ME), put your windows floppy boot disk in (has fdisk on it) and boot from that and you want to be in a command prompt and type fdisk.
Hit 5 (i think) to Select your drive and then create a primary partition.
Restart ur PC and format the drive (e.g. Format D: )

Also make sure you got the jumpers in correctly.. master/slave
