Adlinks are back.

Despite reassurances that they wouldn't be used.

Like 92% of everyone else that views this site, i use ff and therefore don't really care

I couldn't care less about the adlinks.

Something's different about this thread from the time Firefox crashed on me to the time it reloaded and I gradually made my way back to the forums (distracted by the latest Fark photoshop contests)... but I can't put my finger on which post was changed/removed.

Anyway... they're back? That's news to me.

I posted with "I couldn't care less" then SM posted with "Couldn't care less about the adlinks or the fact that Munro lied to us". Then both of those posts got deleted because apparently my opinion doesn't matter. So I reposted it again.

weird stuff's a'happenin!

What I was attempting to do was keep all serious staff discussion of the matter to the staff forums, as dictated by our glorious leader. If however, you insist on "airing your dirty laundry" here, then so be it ;)

I think starting a discussion might count as well.

Whats the point? it's happened twice before, and it didnt work. Munro just deletes posts, finds an excuse to lock the thread and ignores whatever was discussed!

I deliberately left my opinion out of the opening post, so as not to influence the discussion. I see nothing wrong with giving people a general state of play, and opening the floor to discussion. Do you?

I'm just finding the whole thing very tedious. We've been here before, we know where it's going.

OK... let's stop the hostilities and spread the love \o/

Although; what type of Ads are Adlinks? Excuse me if I don't know every definition of internet adverts :(

Adlinks are just annoying ads that nobody will actually click on. Munro continues to use though, although the majority of the community hate them and would prefer much more clever methods of advertising.

i think the whole things funny. :D

I noticed :( time to ban them with ad block again

I think they're absolutely and totally fucking stupid but I won't complain anymore. I don't like Munro putting them back after he said they were over but once again it's a really STUPID thing to whine about so I'll just let it go. They don't bother me much but I do think they take the quality of the site down somewhat and thats why I don't like them.

This is hilarious. Someone seems to have deleted the post that Munro had made where he said "we aren't using them." I can't seem to find it anywhere. Hee hee hee.

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHY YOU NEED MONEY AND WHAT IT IS FOR, USE SOMETHING ELSE OTHER THAN THIS.

Making our posts into advertisements is just about the stupidest damn thing ever. Banner ads, pop-ups, I don't give a damn.

lol, they must be using the same ad server as before, because I can't see them.

I hate them with every fiber of my being and so I block them using adblock and firefox.

Adblock isn't censored anymore? Cool.

example

(they're underlined twice and when you scroll your mose over them some yellow pop-up appears)

I hate them for that reason - they are the same as the links you get from every website when your machine is infested with a certain type of adware/spyware.

They seem to be down now, so i don't think we need to worry, but there weren't as many as last time. Only about 1 or 2 on each page, not the 5 or 6 like last time.
