WOW. Thats got to be not good?... i dont like Adobe Reader, it has a silly splash screen when it doesnt need one. :|

Soooo....is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Bad thing, just compare Flash Player to Adobe Reader.

Well it could pave the way for some nice integration between Flash and Photoshop etc.

Bad thing, just compare Flash Player to Adobe Reader.

Those are two entirely separate products designed for two entirely separate purposes. Flash is designed to deliver high fidelity web animation, Acrobat is more of a publishing tool for documents.

mmmm that would be good. yay, go adobe. :D i forgot they made photoshop!

Surely, microsoft are their only competition now?.... this seems abit of a slick deal.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as you can tell, I think it's a bad thing!!!

they'll kill dreamweaver, they'll kill flash!!! they can kill freehand and I havent learned go live and in motion!!! gahhh back to square one!!!!

Dreamweaver is for sissies who can't code their way out of a wet paper bag. Why would they kill flash also? This can't be a bad thing

If they "kill" Flash, it would be the worst business decision Adobe ever made.

@oldagerocker: you can turn the splash screen off in Acrobat. Well... in 6.0 professional at least ;).

And like Zerimski said, Flash is for animation, Acrobat essentially views and prints PDF files which are used in design a lot. Totally different things

I like Adobe. They've taken InDesign from being behind Quark (the industry standard), to being better than it (in my opinion). Hopefully it'll become the industry standard someday.

Go Adobe!

:upstare: so you hand code websites that have more than 300 pages? dreamweaver is prefect for every aspect of web production ...you still have to know coding in order to use it efficiantly

Eh maybe your right, I just use notepad because I can't afford dreamweaver, plus I never really code more than 10 pages per website

it's a must for large sites ..built in ftp, built in file management, ability to edit and code different languages from cgi to javascript (it even helps you) etc make it a must for professional designers. It has it's uses

I don't use Dreamweaver, but you can stop it writing code for you. Just stay away from the preview view. It's only WYSIWYG if you let it be. I always code by hand whenever I use it.

I nearly die every Tuesday in my design class when the web development lot are in the opposite room. I can hear the teacher talking about splicing sites designed in Photoshop then chucking them into Dreamweaver. It makes me sick. It's like they know nothing about web standards or anything. I just wanna charge in there and give him.. err... a good talking to.

well in most studios there's alway a designer and a programmer ...designer designs site, programmer writes back end ...although the tendency is to hire someone who has both skills, which is usually hard to find cuz artisits and programmers are 2 different breeds of people. Artists (generally speaking) make poor programmers and programmers make poor designers (of course there's always exceptions to the rules ...I've met a few coders who are excellent designers ..but rarely do I meet a designer who's an excellent programmer ....there's just too much to know on both sides of the profession

oh I dont think adobe will kill flash player ...but since In motion can create swf files ...I think flash as a program may be killed off

That would also be commercial suicide. For starters, the name "Macromedia", for most people is synonymous with Flash, so Adobe will want to keep the brand. Secondly, from my brief experience with InMotion (granted, this was a few years ago), it was years behind Flash in terms of ease of use and features.

There must've been some agreements that were made stopping Adobe farking up Macromedia's programs.

I hope you're right ...I felt that In motion was a poor replacement for flash ...although I did apreciate taht it seemed to be more of a cross between After effects and flash ...havent followed it in years so I dont know how good the current incarnation is

What I'm hoping for is a wholesale integration of Flash into the next Creativity Suite, with very few changes to the fundamentals of how it works. The Flash drawing engine is far better than anything Adobe have so far come up with, while the editing side of Photoshop is better than any Macromedia product.

It wouldn't surprise me if Adobe cease development on their InMotion and GoLive products and just focus on Flash/Dreamweaver.

huh? illustrator is far more powerful than flash for drawing

Not for what I use it for :P In my opinion, Flash is better for freestyle drawing.

hmmm ...so what is it that you use it for? are you referring to using a tablet? Maybe it's cuz I'm a long time Illustrator user but I just cant get into flash' drawing tools when I can use Illustrator much more quickly and efficiantly

I'd use a tablet if I could afford one, but yeah, that kind of drawing. I've not used Illustrator very much at all, and much like you can't get used to Flash, I can't get used to Illustrator. In cases like this it's much more up to personal preference and what you use the most rather than any actual pros and cons between the products :)

ya it's definately preference ...Illustrator has a steep learning curve initially but after awhile you can whip up images in no time flat ...almost as fast as handrawing something

Hmm, that's an interesting one. Illustrator - the best vector drawing app combining with the best vector animation app... ;)

You have GOT to be kidding me.... GOOD! i AM a graphic designer by profession... photoshop > * / Illustrator > * / macromedia's attempts at recreating the two, were very very poor. I see great things in the future! go adobe!
