Advanced Options Crash HELP!!!

I can play HL2 fine. It is a little choppy for me though, so I want to use the lowest graphics settings as possible. I can go into the video options and change everything to 'Low'. But when I click Ok or Apply, my game crashes. :frown:

Are there any Target command line commands to set the graphics to say 'Low'??
I can only use Medium*, but I need to use Low setting. Please give out any commands to lower the graphics to say 'Low'.

Odd. I know of console commands to make your game play better - mat_picmip 2 (I believe it goes up to 8 if you *really* wanted more fps), mat_specular 0 (turns off reflections, adds a lot of performance if it's your CPU that's hurting) mat_bumpmap 0 (no bumpmapping) and r_rootlod 2 (decreases detail level of everyone)

when you start the game does it go back to medium? Or cant u start the game at all now?

there is a command which resets everything to default (whatever that is on your machine, might be low or medium). I think its something like:

-autoconfig or something like that. Put it in the launch options and then start the game. hopefully your "defaults" are low :/

Well, I tried all of those commands and they work.

Except...I need to get Model Detail from Medium* to Low.
