Well...the title says it all. I decided to say screw the 360, I'll wait till my birthday. Right now, I want to get a good digi camera. And well...I need advice. Something between $90-$300 would be sufficient. I want good resolution, good amount of space to hold images, flash, all that jazz. Thank you.

I'm getting a Canon PowerShot SD300 for Christmas.

2" LCD screen.
4MP.
Awesome image quality.
Etc., etc., etc.

Look up reviews on it -- all great.

whatever you look for, get something that can have a huge memory card, anda LONG BATTERY LIFE. I hate changing the batteries in the camera every twenty minutes...

here's a good idea (worked for me) - get a friend to accidentally buy 2 cameras and then make sure he's lazy enough to not want to return it, and offer to buy it for slightly less than he paid for it

this worked like a champ for me

I'd recommend the Canon SD300 or SD400 too (if you like small cameras and rechargeable batteries). Best pocket camera out there that maintains great image quality and good battery life.

Otherwise the Canon A520 will give you better picture quality (better lens and 4Megapixels) but it's a little bigger and uses AA battery sizes (Alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH). Then buy a 512MB or 1GB SD card to hold tons of pics. :D

what do you want from a camera? something to take pictures of drunk mates or something to take proper photos?

i have a Fuji S7000 and it does everything well, other cameras are better in some aspects but none have the all round package (or didn't in august when i got it). if you're really wanting to get serious you should get a camera that has the capability to shoot in "RAW" mode, then post process the images on your computer, but then they are big, my 6.3MP camera outputs raw files at 16MB a time, only ~75 or so on my 1GB xD card, but it does hold upto 2250 1290x960 pictures.

the only downside to a camera like this is the size and weight, but i carried it round Italy for a week without a problem with an adapter tube and a lens hood.:)

edit: check out www.dpreview.com for he latest updates and news in the digital vamera market:)

just saw an ad for the new Canon ES sumit or other ES 350 i think, looked cool, whats that camera like?

I just got the Canon EOS 350D jimbo, and it's awesome. It's an 8MP SLR. Doesn't feel as good as the 20D but I wasn't willing to put out an extra grand for 0.2 more MP.

Image quality is pretty nice for a digital too. If you're looking at getting a digital slr jimbo then get an eos I say, fairly affordable too. It's not as cheap as Nikon's D70 but it's much better quality.

I also hear that a new Fuji SLR is out and its around $500 US with something like 9MP. Might be worth a look at too.

Ill need a good Camera for my Mission. Its gotta last 2 years too.

i see the EOS350D is around a grand over here, thats a bit outta my market, im a camera noob tbh but wanted to take it up as a hobby, not just to take pics on nights out etc, i was looking in the argos catalogue and they had a Nikon F55 SLR with a double lens pack for 350 euros, looked pretty neat, the canon equivalent on the same page was a EOS3000 but came with the 1 lens pack, it was about 250 r sumit...

also what about batteries and stuff? are they rechargeable or not?if not are batteries expensive, how often do you need to get them? yes im a noob :P
