Can anybody read heiroglyphics? I was playing through Ep2 again, and I was at the first Advisor encounter in the barn. I noticed, when Gordon gets pulled up and... almost probed with the advisor's "tongue", that the advisor had some symbols and stuff around it's... neck, in a collar-type area. Take a look. Sorry, no pics at the moment.

I bet it's not Egyptian, it's the Combine Advisor written language lol. It can't be Egyptian, or could it?
Well I think Valve just put some random drawings on it...

I'm still trying to figure it out. I'll post a picture.

Edit: Done.

Jak And Daxter had similar made-up writing which usually did mean something. Think Valve'd add in meaning to the symbols?

It's a bit too deep an easter egg, if it is one, to be characteristic of Valve. I just found it interesting. It also, mabye unintentionally, shows some sort of peek into the existence of the Advisors and the Combine. If anybody can make something of them... do tell.

Strange, I just stumbled across an apparent 'greek text' examination from a scene in LOST and they were successfully able to translate some of it. I just don't usually see stuff about ancient Greek or Egyptian words so that's a coincidence not even worth posting.

It would be a bit risky for Valve to use authentic earth writings on the collar around now if they had that planned ahead, but it would be a little interesting to see they've been on the planet before, similar to Halo's backstory. It just looks like random symbols meant to appear as alien language to me though. I know it certainly isn't any Greek, they look Like This, and Egyptian More Like These.

Made-up symbols without meaning, just for better look. And if you insist that it has some meaning, it's the advisor's name, which you can't translate anyway. Problem solved. ;)

No possible means of translating or attaching any meaning to these symbols right now. When we see more of the Advisors in EP3 there may well be some kind of hidden easter egg which enables us to either partially translate or otherwise link the symbols to something else.

Definitely a made up language. I think you guys are trying to make it appear more than it is. >.>

Yep, no idea what that could possibly mean and very inclined to believe it means nothing.
