Afraid not to be able to play HL2:Steam error

I'm afraid that Ican't play HL2 cos I installed Codename:Gordon and as Steam was updating for making the game able to play offline I got bluesceen. I tried several times but it didn't work.
Will HL get activated by the same way ( i buy in store )? Or is it just starting Steam updating and finished or have i to download any files??

What exactly did you try? Starting 'preloading'? Ordering HL2?

HL2 will be activated the same way for these 3 things:
1. A store-bought copy
2. A Steam preloaded version, but a key used from a store-bought copy
3. A Steam-bought copy (preloaded)

The only difference will be that a store bought copy will need some small updates.
