I finally did it! After playing for 5 or so years I finally Quit WoW! I feel like I can really do it this time too. With my longer work week and massive stack of unfinished games, I can finally say i have a real excuse to quit the game and enter the real world again. I haven't touched the game in about 3 weeks nor do i want to. So has anyone else kicked the bucket so to speak??

Wtf is with the bottom of that page with the black stuff.

I really don't get how people can get addicted to this stuff. At all.

I quit after three months, and have tried multiple times to continue and try to have fun, but have failed each time.

Game sucks.

and thats what i thought about EVE but so many of my friends from work and school played WoW so it was easy to get into. then as more and more faded away it felt really boring. plus it felt more expensive as time went on. i'm having more fun with torchlight, COD:MW2, and TF2 than I was with WoW tbh

I'd still be playing if my account wasn't temp locked for suspicion of being sold. Its bullshit. It probably has to do with me letting my brother make a character. He got like 5 gold, then made his own account, and traded it to the other account along with a lot of items and what not.

I actually really like this game for some reason, and I just can't put my tongue on it. I used to play 3 or 4 years back, and then I canceled my account. I recently made a new one and got him to level 50, but as I explain up there, I can't get on. So I guess I quit too, bro.

I believe he means this.

Battle.net and WoW have combined into one user name. same thing with StarCraft I think too and other Blizzard games. it makes one login for all those games if you're playing online.

and if you are referring to the weird black that was on their website ask them, i'm just glad to get out now before i got addicted again

Oh, I thought you got laid or something.

It's black because a background image didn't load properly. The battle.net logo image and the corner image have edges like (done with transparency) that so that they blend into the background pattern without obvious edges.

i did notice that things were missing, for example i had no idea which blank image would give me a confirm or deny for account cancellation. this could be because i was using FF and not IE

Break your discs after unsubscribing your account, remove any backups of it etc. too.

That was what I had to do.

I was addicted to Diablo 2 when it came out. I'd literally play it all the time, I'd tell my parents and everyone to go away, I wouldn't go out and hang with my friends (I actually lost a few), and eventually my parents just took the computer away (I was like 9 or something at the time, back when white rings were in battle.net if anyone remembers those), I never got addicted to any game after that though. I still play Diablo 2 sometimes now, but probably only like once or twice a week if that.

I tried a trial of WoW and it seems like it's a fun game, but you have to be powerful to have the fun, starting out sucked.

I thought the Op got laid and he is sharing the story with us or something. Glad you've thrown of your addiction. So, when are you going to deal with your internet addiction.

Congrats Warped, hope RL treats you well on your return.

I know porn especially. i should just move to Australia for reals

I cried (well, tears fell, I wasnt hyperventalating or anything, didnt cry that hard) when I told my guild I was quitting.

Mainly because I got swarmed in MSN with sad goodbye convos, memories etc.

I didnt leave a game. I left a family; my guild. I was there for 5 years, right from the beginning. I saw the guild start, evolve. The guild changed its name, and we became the 2nd best guild on the server (according to boss progress), only a Horde guild stood ahead of us in...jesus I cant even remember the names of the places anymore. That island place for the bloodelves...Sun..something, the big 25man raid. Anyway, we (alliance and horde guilds) all knew each other and helped each other out. The amount of signup requests we got shot through the roof. Im not bragging, we just kept denying applications because we wanted the existing community strength.

Downing Nefarian stands as my greatest gaming achievement, before the patches of Burning Crusade etc etc. We were all on teamspeak and there was such a sense of achievement and community when he died. Its hard to describe the connection you get.

It all sounds really pathetic, and I know it does, but I dont care. We went through so much.

I left for about a year due to my first year of Uni, came back into TBC and caused a wipe in a raid because everyone just jumped all over me in guild chat. I felt I belonged.

Leaving was really difficult. Ive wanted to go back, not because of the game, the game became a chore, an obligation like a job being paid in DKP and using it to buy more gear every few days in raids...I just miss everyone in my guild.

Its a hard thing to do, so you can laugh about WoW as much as you want, but there are people there that will never leave. Simple as that.

Cried after leaving a guild, nice.

Welcome to the real world Warped. Here you will buy milk, renew your drivers licence, walk to the bus stop and watch the 6 o clock news.

Goodbye to venturing across epic burnt out landscapes, beautiful forests of awe, sprawling silver cities of stunningness. Goodbye to the comradery of completing quests with your fellow warriors. It's all over.

Indeed the real world is so much better..
/cough

I played for about a year. During my final summer I was playing it pretty much constantly and wasn't going out or anything. I realised this so I went to my friends for a month down by the sea and never played again.

It can get addicting, especially when you're playing with your friends and you're getting some nice new loot and stuff.

Fun while it lasted lol.

I played a text based mmorpg for 8 years before quitting. It was difficult but it was one of the better things I've done.

And i thought you found the cure for cancer...but no, it's just WoW :dozey:

I was going to go with 'I did it! After five long years I filled a bath full of ejaculate!'

And then it was Warcraft, and I was all like 'that's ****ing sick'.

lol wtf is wrong with you?? seriously...

The hard part is gonna come when that next expansion comes out. :p Just let it go!

I relapsed on the last two expansions, but I think I'm finally rid of this game.

I did that too.

Two years ago.

And then again last year.

In other news my raid just killed Putricide WHATUP.

Hey I did that too, several times. I'm getting really good at it.

I sold my account last year though. Then I came back over Christmas and made a new account. Unfortunately it was hacked yesterday, somehow. I honestly don't understand it. I downloaded some UI mods yesterday, but they look clean, and both of my systems that I've used are completely clean. Anyway I ordered a Blizzard Authenticator, so whatever whatever. It's hard to be mad at the hand that feeds me (I buy gold frequently).

I'll probably play a little longer (perhaps until Spring), quit, and come back for Cataclysm, if history is any indication of my routine.

for me its the same damn thing over and over again. i need to play something new and fun

Play an instrument IRL.

actually i want to get a keyboard. I hate guitar because my dad has played it every day of my life and i just hear it too much. my brothers played too but i just don't want any part of it. i love when other people play but when i'm trying to sleep or rest they're jamming on it. my dad's really good, hes even part of a local band who play at local events like festivals and such.

Instruments are too expensive, btw. Except harmonicas. You can't go wrong with harmonicas.

Damn it, I shouldve sold my account! Didnt think of that.

Wouldve fetched a fairly decent price in full tier 6 with half tier 6.5 before litch king came out.

Bah, me and wasting money chances!
